What makes Isaiah so unique? First, his fur is as blue as the sky - which until recently was something he'd never seen, but had read all about. That's right - Isaiah can read, and write. He can also talk to humans... if any of them are willing to listen! After a dramatic escape from a mysterious laboratory, Isaiah is separated from his 'mischief' (which is the word for a mouse family) and has to use his special skills to survive in the dangerous outdoors, and hopefully find his missing family. But in a world of cruel cats, hungry owls and terrified people, it's hard for a young mouse to make it alone. When he meets an equally unusual and lonely human girl named Hailey, the two soon learn that true friendship can transcend all barriers.

I like this book.

The main character is a blue mouse raised in a lab who escapes from the lab with his siblings but he is the only one who is not captured.  He is unlike any ordinary mouse – he can read, write and talk!  He makes friends with a human who is also not very ordinary.  This book celebrates individuality and the need to believe in yourself as you can then achieve an awful lot.

I read this to my 6 year old son and he LOVED it. A really unique story about a mouse who breaks free from the laboratory he was in and then sets out to rescue the rest of his family. My son loved the little sayings at the beginning of each chapter. My 8 year old overheard boys and pieces when we were reading it and he has now reading it independently. He likes the short chapter lengths and the balance of pictures and text. These encourage him to read on.

A super book by James Patterson, Word of Mouse had so many elements that make it enjoyable.  The hero, Isaiah, is endearing and you find just a little more about him in each (tiny) chapter. It keeps you reading on! The language, as you'd expect from this author, is just wonderfully rich. It has great pace and is just filled with laughter, fear, excitement and love. It's a great book to read together with your child.

Firstly i'd like to start off by saying how much i enjoy books by James Patterson (and his co authors), i haven't read a book by him yet that i haven't liked!

I really liked this book. It looked interesting on first inspection and certainly didn't disappoint. This was an easy read with chapters not really exceeding 5 pages and headed beautifully by a lovely quote by the mouse Isaiah.

I thought the plot was great, it's very sweet and found myself invested in the story. Isaiah is instantly likeable and has a good head on his shoulders- he may be a small mouse but he has big ideas and an even bigger heart.

I thoroughly enjoyed the friendship between mouse and human child- it's fun and quite lovely to see a friendship transcend expected barriers.

Easy enough to read in one sitting, this book is a great transition for younger children looking to read more complex stories without wanting to dive in at the deep end. Suitable for older and younger readers alike.

This is our favourite James Patterson book. It is a great adventure story, which is uplifting, humorous and moving. The chapters are quite short and there are plenty of rather cute black and white illustrations (except perhaps for the ones with Isaiah in the beak of a hawk and the apple pie maker). My son liked Isaiah because 'he was brave and a bit different'. He said the best part was when ' five thousand mice surround the bad men and then escape.'

Another beautiful book from James Patterson. Although following a completely different plotline to most of his other books, Word of Mouse is one of his best. Isaiah is an extremely likeable character, and his epic adventures were breath-taking. An extraordinary book.

I really like James Patterson books. This is very different to others I have read but it is my favourite so far. It's really easy to read as the chapters are very short. Isiah is a really cute, funny and clever character his friendship with human girl Hailey is lovely. I really enjoyed this and would recommend to others.

I really enjoy reading James Patterson books and i loved this one the most. I loved the funny but also a little bit sad story

It was easy to read and follow and had little chapters in it so i could easily read a couple of pages before bed without having to put it down mid chapter.

I really like this book. It has a very interesting story that made me feel very happy at some point and very sad at others. I red some by myself and some with my mum and e both enjoyed the book. I would read it again and I would tell my friends to read it.

I like this book because of the adventure and the imagination that has been used. The author has used lots interesting phrases including the quotes at the beginning of each chapter. I very much enjoyed this book and will now read more books in this series- I'd never heard of them before.

I loved Isaiah and the black and white drawings throughout the book. I felt happy and warm reading this story.

The one thing that I dislike is that the chapters are very small.

It wasn't my style. I liked the beginning but found the story hard to follow. The characters were boring and I found them hard to like. I did not enjoy the story which was sad as my mum loves the author, he is her favourite.
