From a land before time comes a hero for today ... Spynosaur - he's going to make crime extinct!

A hilarious new series from award-winning author Guy Bass, perfect for fans of My Brother is a Superhero , The Astounding Broccoli Boy , Darkmouth and Hamish and the Worldstoppers .

When Spynosaur locks up the last of the world's worst criminal masterminds, all that's left are a string of disappointingly undemanding novelty villains. With no one worthy of his super-spy skills, Amber's worried that Spynosaur might give up spying altogether. Even Goldentoe, their last hope of a dastardly villain, admits to only pretending to be evil to win the heart of Shady Lady. Frantic that her dad has lost the will to spy, Amber convinces Goldentoe to make himself a more desirably dangerous suitor. With the help of the Science Ray and a sample of Spynosaur's DNA, Goldentoe transforms himself into Goldenclaw, a formidable half-man, half dinosaur far more powerful than Spynosaur, and intent on a spot of world-ending asteroid flinging...

I really enjoyed this book because the main character is really cool and funny. He is part human, part dinosaur, and is very clever. The worst part was when the book ended, because i want to read more. I am going to take it into school for show and tell.

Spynosaur, the brainwaves of top super-spy Agent Gambit and the body of a Deinonychus, is back with another top notch adventure.

After defeating all the dastardly villains out there, Spynosaur is left fighting wannabe baddies, ones armed with gimmicks instead of perilous plans. And so our courageous hero is feeling a little disheartened and his daughter and sidekick Amber is worried her dad is about to give up on being a spy. Enter Goldentoe, will he be the villainous scoundrel Spynosaur needs to get his groove back? ( and stop spouting appalling poetry?? )

So many things to love about this book, I'll begin with the action scenes. Lee Robinson illustrates these to perfection, transforming the pages into comic strips, bringing the characters and battles to life.
And now to the laugh out loud humour. WARNING! Do not drink anything whilst reading, as the explosive laughter caused by this book will have liquid spurting from your nose! The play on words borders on genius making this a brilliant book to read aloud.
The story is face paced, bursting with danger and thrilling stunts that will have the reader wondering how our heroes will manage to survive.

Full of action, adventure, comedy and secret plans Spynosaur vs Goldenclaw is a must read for children and adults alike. It's Dino-mite! ( bad pun intended )

I really enjoyed this book. Sypnosaur is a really great spy. He is brave and sometimes makes me laugh. He is my favourite character but I also like Amber, his daughter. It is an action filled book with excellent illustrations. Together Sypnosaur and Amber defeat lots of villains but will they be able to defeat the most villainous villain of all, Goldenclaw?!

This is a really funny book, filled with spies and psychics!

My favourite character is spynosaur because he uses terrible puns and blows stuff up!  My favourite part is when golden claw is finally beaten.

There are great pictures and the book is easy to read. I really liked the comic strip to.

I was very happy to win this book from Toppsta.  When the book came. I thought the cover was really colourful and fun and it really made me want to read the book.  Inside some of it is like a comic strip which I really like, it is cool as you can read a small amount at a time, which suits me best. There is a lot of action, and spy missions in the story, and the dinosaur characters are awesome! I really enjoyed reading this book, and hope to read another spynosaur adventure soon.

We first talked about the name of the book and read the synopsis. Then we discussed what we liked about the book on first impressions. The children had these responses:
·         I like the look of the cover – it looks funny.
·         I love the names.
·         The characters look fun.
·         It looks like they’re going to have great adventures.
·         I love spies and this sounds really good.

This was a really excitingly adventurous book, perfect for any adventure seeker. It reminded me of the recent book we won and read ‘Spy Toys’. Spynosaur is a thrilling story that follows the daily lives of spy agents who have taken on the form of different shapes or creatures. The main character ‘Spynosaur’ was a secret agent who now takes the shape of a dinosaur, along with his sidekick spy agent daughter Amber, they tackle the issues that pose a threat to society including uncovering plots to destroy the world, beastly villains and vicious plots to take over. They work for a moustached lady called M11 – it reminds me much of James Bond – for children, with technologically advanced gadgets and similar storylines catching villainous beings. The children thought it was funny that it took up to chapter 9 before it got to the afternoon of the Tuesday when the whole story started. Spynosaur is perfect at his job, responsible, prompt and able to solve clues quickly – he also enjoys a spot of poetry and himself and Amber talk in puns quite frequently, in fact the book is full of them, like a ray-emitting gun called Ronald Ray-Gun. Which Amber uses on a man called Goldentoe and manages to turn him into a part dinosaur part human creature who is on a mission to win over the heart of the lady villain Shady Lady by wreaking as much havoc as he possibly can. The mission to defeat Goldenclaw doesn’t arise until chapter 6, until then the missions are very simplistic and easy to sort out whereas Goldenclaw creates destruction wherever he goes and is difficult to tackle. He quickly becomes Sypnosaurs arch nemesis and rekindles his love of spying – Amber was only trying to help her dad uncover his true love of spying as she believed he was losing his love of the job so by creating a new enemy he would have to rise to the challenge of defeating him and therefore continue as a spy.
The plot thickens, when it is discovered that there is a 'mole' giving information to Goldenclaw and unfoiling all of the carefully laid out plans by Spynosaur. It is then the job of Spynosaur and Amber to find out who the mole is AND defeat Goldenclaw who is rapidly gaining power as the story progresses and has created a plan to destroy the world. Luckily Agent Moley - a small mole who is also an Agent for Department 6 Headquarters is hiding and finds Goldenclaw's plan which is written on paper and hidden deep inside his pants - this brought about much hysteria as the children found it highly amusing that one, a mole would be hiding in the pants of a super creature and two, his plan would be hiding in there also. A hilariously funny read with revenge and conquering evil. The children are desperately looking forward to the sequel.

Eventually, Spynosaur and Amber uncover the truth that M11 is infact the mole and created chaos and mayhem in order to rekindle Spynosaur's love for the job. In doing so, she also put many lives in grave danger, but as a woman who sports a moustache that wriggles when she talks, it is very difficult for them to stay mad at her for too long and instead they rush off to save the day, and the world as his plan uncovered him pulling a meteor towards earth to bring about a new Ice Age and wipe out humankind.

The children thought the following:
KC aged 7: "My favourite part was when Spynosaur punched Goldenclaw all the way out of the temple and into the tree and then when he got up he spat out some teeth. That was really funny."
KB aged 7: "My favourite part was when Holey Moley went into Goldenclaw's pants and when Goldenclaw put his hand into his pants and found the mole. I liked the bit where they had the Spytanium and Grandma Gambit didn't know what it was and put it into the soup. "
IS aged 7: "My favourite part was when Goldenclaw had a battle and Spynosaur won. My favourite character was Spynosaur and I liked it when Spynosaur told people not to eat cheese after 6pm."
H aged 7: "I liked it when Holey Moley went in between Goldenclaw's bottom because that was really funny and strange that he would do that."
AD aged 7: "All of it was my favourite but I did like when Holey Moley crawled into Goldenclaw's pants because I don't know why anyone would do that, it was really funny. I liked how Grandma Gambit kept forgetting everything and my favourite character was Shady Lady and I liked how the mission was to win Shady Lady."
TD aged 6: "My favourite character was Shady Lady because she could untie herself."
Go aged 6: "My favourite character was Amber because her motto was really funny. My favourite part was when Holey Moley went into Goldenclaw's pants and he got the golden paper from his bottom. That was so funny."

Spynosaur is a hair -raising adventure of amazing action and hilarious characters to keep any reader interested!. As a dinosaur lover I have been lacking a proper superhero for ages and this 2nd adventure of the human dinosaur hybrid fits the bill nicely!. I really like this book  because although I am 11 and maybe a bit old for this length book, it is a lovely read packed with fun, spying and adventure. This book  is suitable for a fairly young age as it lacks any sinister characters and has big writing, however, any fun loving older reader will be delighted with it to!. You would not need to read the first book to get the story except for a small bit at the start. All in all this book is amazing  from start to finish .
