Sophie laughed when I did the impersonation of the enormous pig. Very funny little story.

This is the amusing tale of Mr Grumble, who irriates a passing wizard with his moaning and is turned into a pig. The wizard keeps popping up when he complains and turns him into progressively bigger pigs. Eventually he learns to stop his constant grumbling and even manages a smile.

My toddlers love the pigs (and the subsequent impressions they generate). The length of the story is ideal for my toddlers as there's a modest amount of lines per page - so they can maintain their attention until the end.

The illustrations are marvellous, as usual they are bold and engaging. The size of the book is ideal for my children to handle themselves.

This is a fun, classic tale we return to frequently.

Mr Grumble is a complete moaner and in this traditional tale he gets his comeuppance and learns his lesson. He meets a wizard (the one that pops up in quite a lot of Mr Men books) who takes it upon himself to teach Mr Grumble to stop grumbling. He does this by turning him into a pig – a bigger pig each time Mr Grumble moans. Ultimately Mr Grumble gets the message and become a bit of a happier soul. As a parent, I feel that although the story is quite funny, it’s a little bit dated in the fact that it’s forcing Mr Grumble to be happy rather than addressing the cause of his issues (haha!) but my daughter quite likes it when the wizard turns him into a pig!
