The new children's book from No. 1 bestselling author David Walliams - a deliciously daft Tall Story of a child who had everything, but still wanted more. Illustrated by artistic genius, Tony Ross.

Meet the Meeks!

Myrtle Meek has everything she could possibly want. But everything isn't enough. She wants more, more , MORE! When Myrtle declares she wants a FING, there's only one problem... What is a FING?
Mr and Mrs Meek will do anything to keep their darling daughter happy, even visit the spooky library vaults to delve into the dusty pages of the mysterious Monsterpedia . Their desperate quest leads to the depths of the jungliest jungle where the rarest creatures can be found. But will they ever find a FING?

An explosively funny, totally surreal Tall Story about two perfectly nice parents and their unbelievably monstrous daughter from the phenomenal bestselling author David Walliams.

This new novel by David Walliams is utterly readable. Myrtle Meek is spoilt and is always throwing tantrums. Fing appears and adds loads of fun to the story. I would thoroughly recommend the book and my favorite character is Fing. The bright yellow cover of the book is apt for this funny book.

Librarians Mr & Mrs Meek will do anything for their daughter Myrtle, and she has everything that she could possibly want. But when Myrtle demands a FING, her parents must embark on a quest from the forbidden vaults of the library through the pages of the mysterious Monsterpaedia, and to the farthest corners of the jungle, to discover what a Fing is!!!

If you loved Walliam's Worst Children collections, then you'll love this extended version. Older readers will love this too, so will be enjoyed across all of Key Stage 2.

This was another great book by David Walliams. It was hilariously funny when Mr Meek went on a trip to the jungliest jungle to find a fing. This book shows what can happen if you are greedy. It has a great moral and is easy to read with lots of pictures along the way. I would recommend this book to children aged 8+.

David Walliams has written an other excellent book. FING. It’s about a little girl ( Myrtle ) who has almost everything but still wants more, one more FING. One of the funniest things about this book is that Mr and Mrs Meek literally carry their daughter to school with a lifetime supply of food for one dinner time. Mr Meek has to go to the deepest, darkest, jungliest jungle to get his daughter a FING.

This is a great book which I loved reading as it was really exciting and funny.
Mr & Mrs Meek will do anything for their daughter Myrtle, what she wants is a FING, through the monsterpedia which they find in the vaults of the library, they discover what a FING is really like.
The book has black and white illustrations throughout which adds to the story.
The book is split into 37 chapters and each chapter had you wanting more.
This book reminds me of an extended version of a chapter from the world's worst children and if you liked those books then you will love this book.
I Love David Walliams books and can't wait for his next book.

My grandma bought this book for me at Easter. I have read all of the other David Walliams books and was excited to read Fing.
This is his best book - Fing is very funny and I now love custard creams because David Walliams mentions them a lot in the book.

The characters are really good, especially Myrtle, she is a very naughty and spoilt child - I think she should have had consequences for her actions but her mum and dad let her get away with everything.

I LOVED THIS BOOK!

This is a story about a very spoilt girl who has everything and still wants more, one more FING! Myrtle is not a girl to be reckoned with and thus her parents embark on a mission to find the mythical FING for their daughters birthday. A mission which takes them to the depths of danger and sacrifice, with a surprising end!

I've been reading this with my 7 year old son, who can read very well, but is very resistant to reading as it's sometimes a little more effort than he's willing to give!

The solution to this is David Walliams! My son is still resistant to reading as he sometimes comes across longer words like ultimatum etc which he struggles with - but he gives them a go. HE is willing to do this because with David Walliams books.... he is rewarded with the humour which he really enjoys. Also, in these books the text is broken up with lots of large type 'Boings!' 'Crash' Whizz' etc, which he likes as they give him a break from big blocks of text. Sometimes these large type words and accompanying images fill up a lot of the page, making a chapter seem to go really quickly and thus giving him the feeling of having accomplished a whole chapter.

The story is great and we have both giggled at numerous parts of it.

We have really enjoyed this book and we'll be reading more David Walliams too ::) Recommended for resistant readers

About David Walliams

David Walliams has become one of Britain’s best-selling children’s book authors, often compared to Roald Dahl in his writing style.
