Each day we make many decisions, some straightforward, others difficult. Some are unimportant; others can affect the rest of our lives. It may prevent teenagers from making decisions they will later regret: lung cancer can be the long-term consequence of a teenage decision to smoke. Strategy 1 Develop awareness of the extent and range of decision making. Strategies 2 - 3 Evaluate different styles of decision making. Strategies 4- 6 Learn the skill of gathering information, clarifying values and generating alternative solutions. Strategies 7 - 9 Practice the skills of decision making to make informed and considered decisions about smoking, alcohol and illicit drugs. Strategies 10 - 11 Use the decision-making strategy to help clarify a choice of career and subject options. Strategies 12 - 13 Learn to make decisions to achieve greater personal effectiveness.
