People who have a high self-esteem are likely to be happy, well-adjusted, successful and healthy. People lacking self-esteem, feel alienated and this mistrust of self can lead to insecurity, negative feelings and anti-social behaviour. Strategies 1 -6 Encourages young people to discover & share the positive in themselves and others, affirm their strengths, achievements, successes and personal qualities. Strategies 7-8 These strategies look at put-downs, at how to avoid them and how to handle them in a way that avoids negative reinforcement of self. Strategies 9- 11 Helps identify ways of seeing the positive in themselves and others. Strategies 12-14 Explore and express feelings about self. Identify ways of enhancing self-esteem. Strategy 15 Evaluation of the student's personal response to the exercises.
