Designed to provide teachers with everything they need for a full year's religious education programme, this text will help children (through their teacher) learn about religious calendars, Easter, Christmas, important traditional African religious rituals, Navaratri, Deepavali, Ramadan, Eid Ul Fitr, the Jewish Passover and New Year, and other significant religious events. Each section is written by a practising member of a particular faith, for whom the festivals and rituals have personal meaning. The information, images and pupil activities are intended to be both fun and respectful. The text overall hopes to teach children the following: how to take responsibility for their own learning; how to make sure they produce a quality product; how to do cross-curricular, practical tasks; how to work constructively with one another; and to respect one another. Teachers need no specialst training or knowledge of religious studies in order to use this programme, and notes are provided.
