I read this book because I had heard of Dickens and wondered what the stories would be like. In the end, I noticed that we were learning about the Industrial Revolution at school. We have previously been learning about the workhouses and inventions that changed lives forever. Dickens wrote the stories for the rich so they understood what being poor was like. Later, children under nine could not work because young children could die in the conditions they worked in. I liked Oliver Twist best because escaping a workhouse was very hard and I felt sorry for Oliver but the story had a happy ending.

I really liked this collection. My most favourite stories were A Tale of Two Cities because it was dramatic and sad and  Bleak House because I liked the characters.
I would recommend this this collection to 9+ readers because a few of the stories are a little bit upsetting.
Another reason I like this collection is because the pictures a amazing.
