This beautiful compendium contains 20 Farmyard Tales stories in one book. It includes titles such as "The Runaway Tractor", "The Grumpy Goat" and "Woolly stops the train".
Each of the stories are gentle and charming: we use this book as part of our bedtime regimen and select a single story as the final read as they are calming and can be read so peacefully. They are also fairly short.
These stories have incredible longevity: they are wonderful now to read to my toddlers and to use to introduce farm-specific vocabulary along with a wider range of language and concepts. They will also be perfect for when they are beginning to read independently, thanks to the format. There is a simple sentence on the top of each page with a more complex follow-up at the bottom. You can read the full story using only the simpler sentences then involve the more difficult language as they learn.
The pictures are beautiful and wonderful to examine and discuss together. Finding the duck on each page is a delight and keeps children engaged as well as providing some light relief when they're older and learning to read.
It's a fantastic addition to any child's bookshelf and will grow with them from toddlerhood and beyond.
