London, 1876. Hetty Feather is just a tiny baby when her mother leaves her at the Foundling Hospital. The Hospital cares for abandoned children - but Hetty must first live with a foster family until she is big enough to go to school.

Life in the countryside is sometimes hard, but with her foster brothers, Jem and Gideon, Hetty helps in the fields and plays vivid imaginary games. Together they sneak off to visit the travelling circus, and Hetty is mesmerised by the show - especially the stunning Madame Adeline and her performing horses.

But Hetty's happiness is threatened once more when she must return to the Foundling Hospital to begin her education. The new life of awful uniforms and terrible food is a struggle for her, and she desperately misses her beloved Jem. But now she has the chance to find her real mother. Could she really be the wonderful Madame Adeline? Or will Hetty find the truth is even more surprising?

Jacqueline Wilson will surprise and delight old fans and new with this utterly original historical novel. Featuring a brand-new feisty Victorian heroine, Hetty Feather, this is a compelling, moving, funny and totally fascinating Tracy Beaker-esque tale that will thrill and captivate readers.

I love history and we did Victorians at school and I loved that too, so Hetty Feather is a great book for me.  I like that Hetty gets up to mischief but she looks after her friends too.  The book is different from the television programme but in a good way and there is so much more in the book.
Anyone who likes history should read this book, even my mum because I think grown ups would like it too.  I think Jaqueline Wilson is my favourite writer.

I found Hetty a great character of a girl, strong willed and unafraid to be herself even when others disagree with her she holds herself strong and sure. It's shocking to think in the past many girls sufferred the way the foundlings did or served horrid masters but Hetty had something positive in the Circus to hold dear in her memories and heart as she yearned to return and perform one day and that goal as well as to be a writer showed her fiery spirit staying strong.

Hetty Feather is a girl who was abandoned as a baby In Victorian times. She has a funny personality and still has fun despite her circumstances. This book teaches history in a fun way, and makes you realise how fortunate we are nowadays not to be sent to workhouses and foundling hospitals. Once you pick this up you won't be abke to out it down till it's finished.  Then you will do it all over again!

I would really like to recommend this book to people who like history and very adventurous girls. It is about a girl who lived in the Victorian times and the book is written like Hetty is telling you all about her adventures. Hetty tries hard to make  friends but eventually they all fade away. I enjoyed this book very very much and  if you like Jacqueline Wilson books then Hetty is the girl do you! I think Hetty is the most adventurous and  feisty girl I have ever read about an I think it is my favourite book.

This book is about a young foundling named Hetty Feather. Ever since she was born she was despised because of her fiery red hair and unruly attitude. What I love about this book is that it teaches hope and determination. In this book Hetty was determined to find her family. Hetty when she was a young child was fostered by a dear family that lived in the countryside and she grew up with her childhood sweetheart,Jem.

Hetty Feather is a well known book Jacqueline Wilson as told.
Hetty is really called Sapphire but finds out later in her life when she finds her mother Ida,
She is abandoned as a baby and goes to a foster home with her foundling brother Gideon.
Until she has to leave with Gideon to go to the foundling hospital,Matron is grumpier than ever Hetty and Gideon are upset when they are separated from each other. As she gets older she searches for her mother and Ida works at the foundling hospital
Will Hetty ever find her? AGE LEVEL- 8+ AND ADULTS!
