Korky Paul (real name: Hamish Vigne Christie Paul) was born in Zimbabwe in 1951 and started scribbling cartoons from an early age. He attended the Durban School of Art before working at an advertising agency. In 1976 he left for Greece where he illustrated his first children's books which were aimed at educating Greek children to speak "the Queen's English". He then worked in London and LA before his first pop-up book
The Crocodile and the Dumper Truck was published in 1980. His book
Winnie the Witch won the Children's Book Award in 1987 and has been published in 10 languages.
Korky now lives in Oxford with his family.
