Readers aged 11, 12 or 13 who struggle with reading but love Jurassic Park will really enjoy the Prey Zone animal adventure books by Wilbur Smith, Keith Chapman and Steve Cole. 

The books are set in South Africa, where Ralph and Robyn live at Crocodile Lodge, their family ranch. They follow in their famous forebear's footsteps, helping animals, aiding conservation efforts and learning the land. That is, until a mysterious predator that looks a lot like a dinosaur starts terrorising the reserve, and then a deadly virus outbreak ravages an entire village. Throughout the series, Ralph and Robyn work together to figure out exactly how the two events are interconnected, and find a way to stop the person who is to blame for the monstrous crimes.
