Each book is made up of four short stories centering two best friends: Bear and Bird. They don't always understand each other, but they both agree: all they want it to make the other happy. So they make cakes and organise picnics for each other, try not to fight over wanting the same thing and overcome all the mix-ups and comic misunderstandings they encounter time and time again as their friendship continues to grow stronger. 

The books are full of warmth, humour and affection, and are a nostalgically reminiscent of Winnie-The-Pooh.
