You're invited on board for a visit to the best regattas, races and shipyards. You'll not only be on deck with professional sailors, but amateurs and boating enthusiasts from the world over. From transportation to trade and fishing to sailing, this title retraces the history of boats. From sumptuous three-masters to the smallest rowboat, and the mythic Queen Mary to offshore racers, the history of boats is filled with variations each more extraordinary than the last. There are the small 'optimists' that take us back to our earliest days on the water, the magnificent sailboats on which everyone has dreamed of crossing the seas, elegant yachts that race in the most prestigious regattas, but which are also becoming more and more numerous in the fashionable ports. In this title filled with magnificent photographs, Philip Plisson invites you to share his passion and set sail for a race to infinity, discovering all the joys of boating along the way.Through words, images and superb illustrations, and thanks to the role of the sailors and ships that take centre stage, you will explore the fascinating universe shared by man and the sea. This is a work that follows the water's current, from the birth of the first boat to the pleasures of sailing.
