This book has a moving, magical story and gorgeous illustrations which evoke a really Christmassy feeling. It's a good book to read with children of different ages - my 5 year old was captivated by the magic of the story, while my 1 year old enjoyed peeking through the flaps on some of the pages. This would be a really good story for a child who won't see a loved one at Christmas but is a festive and enjoyable read for any family.

When Mia discovers her Dad won’t be home for Christmas everything begins to feel less bright, less Christmassy. It doesn’t even seem possible that she will be able to get her special card to him in time. But when she discovers a mysterious postbox she finds herself whisked away on an unforgettable adventure across snowy mountains, beautiful cities lit by paper stars in her quest to reach her dad in time for Christmas. Beautifully told with the most sublime, rich illustrations, ‘Last Stop on the Reindeer Express’ is an entrancing, festive read that is bound to delight. It’s peek-through pages and hidden flaps invite the reader to embark on this thrilling journey with Mia. Exquisitely produced from it’s die-cut cover through to it’s stunning end pages this is a story filled with so much magic, love  and beauty that you will be totally captivated.

What a delightful book, first time I read it to my girl you could see the imagination and wonder written all across her face. She's at an age she can read it to herself pretty much albeit with a few made up bits. She loved the cut out sections taking you to the next exciting bit of story! Thoroughly enjoyed it myself

This book is beautiful. It is a gorgeous hardback book with a cutout cover. It has some amazingly detailed illustrations throughout with lots of lovely colours including an abundance of soft reds and blues. The book is interactive with magical lift the flap doors, windows to look through onto the next page and even a magical postbox. We really enjoyed the cutout parts of the pages where you could sneak a peek at what was coming up in the next scene. The story itself focuses on a little girl who wants to get her Christmas card to her dad before Christmas day. She finds a mysterious post box and travels on a magical reindeer to try and deliver her card in time. It is a lovely, slightly emotional story with with beautiful artwork on every page.

This is a gorgeous book, the illustrations and colours are stunning and it feels so cosy and festive. Mia really wishes her dad was going to be home on Christmas Day but he works away (and lives in a very nice wooden lodge!). She and her mum go to the Christmas market and a magical door allows Mia to have an adventure with her dad. There are lots of cut outs in the pages, flaps to open and doors through to the next page, it's beautifully produced. A great gift for Christmas, especially for anyone with family working away.

Perfect gift for Christmas, it's such a beautiful quality book: nice story and illustrations, various cut-outs and flaps, and with the main Christmas spirit behind it. What I liked the most was that this story even being in the Christmas setting it's different from the traditional ones. It's about a girl that misses her dad that won't spend Christmas with her because he's far away, but she writes a letter to him and goes on a magical adventure on a reindeer to deliver the letter. She spends Christmas only with her mum, but she's happy to have a gift that beautifully represents some special moments between the girl and her dad. It's also a nice way to approach the subject of other family members not being around during Christmas.

What a charmer of a book - my six year old loved exploring the pages and peeking through the flaps.  Probably one we'll only end up looking at during the Christmas period as it is so seasonal but a nice reminder that Christmas time is all about family.

This is a beautiful and poignant story about a little girl called Mia who can't be with her Dad at Christmas. Having made him a special card she discovers a mysterious postbox at the Christmas Market. She then meets a new friend and so begins her extraordinary journey, but will she make her delivery in time for Christmas?

The detailed illustrations exude a festive warmth really drawing you into the story. We join Mia on her journey over the twinkling sea, through beautiful cities and past the cold snowy mountains. The intricate design of the book with its hidden doors and peek-through cut outs add additional intrigue, ideal for younger readers.

This is a truly magical adventure reminding us of the importance of family at Christmas time and could be perfect for families that are unable to be together at this special time of year. We would recommend the actual story for children age 3 years and upwards, although the delightful pictures can be enjoyed by even the littlest of bookworms. This is a visual delight!

I have recently borrowed this book from the library to read to my little boy who is 2. He loves books. He loves reindeers and Xmas and he loves books with flaps so this ticked a lot of boxes!

My only negative view was that it didn't explain why daddy was away. E.g. Was he working away?

This is a beautiful, high quality book.  The pictures are wonderful and th cut outs and flaps are enchanting.  It's a lovely story about a little girl separated from her dad at Christmas.  I'll be honest and say I think I liked it more than my 4yr old did - he hasn't asked to read it again.  I think it would be a wonderful book for a child who maybe can't be with both parents for Christmas Day.  I'm sure as we get more into the run up to Christmas my son will ask for it again though.

This is such a beautiful Christmas story about a little girl who would miss her daddy at Christmas and how she goes on an adventure through a mysterious post box. The book is beautifully illustrated throughout with cut out details and open the flap details throughout the story. My children aged 6, 4 and 3 loved hearing about Mia's adventure and took turns turning the page and opening the various doors within the story. This is such a nice Christmas story, all about love for family. A great book for every Christmas.
I would caution to not leave this book in the hands of little ones alone, because of the beautiful cut out details, the book could be damaged easily.

What a beautiful looking book.  The pages are wonderfully cut with secrets and surprises looking into the other pages. It's beautiful to look at.

The story follows a girl called Mia who misses her Dad, and she feels like she really must tell him, but it's too late to post him a letter.  Luckily for Mia, some magic occurs which means she walks through a post box, and hops onto a magical reindeer that whisks her away to visit her Dad so she can tell him in person.  When she is done, she magically appears back with her Mum, time had not moved, and her mum didn't realise she was gone.

The story didn't do much for us.  Which is a shame.  I felt it was lacking any real pull.  I was a bit confused to how or whether parents are supposed to explain to their child who really is missing their Dad or a relative how Mia managed to see her Dad (did she just imagine it? Is he even alive?) and that some parents could have been grasping for an explanation to tell their children why they couldn't actually get on a reindeer to see their Dad like magic...but I don't know.
