A tender and heart-warming new story from the world of The Storm Whale . Noi isn't at all sure about staying at Grandma's. Grandma boils seaweed for soup, and there's not much to do on the tiny island where she lives where the wind cuts in and the grass grows sideways . . .

But that's before Noi gets swept up in the dramatic rescue that will mark the beginning of their touching new friendship.

We love this book. it’s friendly and it’s just a good story of adventure and family. The illustrations are beautiful.
About a little boy who goes on Holiday with Grandma at first he is not sure about her, but soon learns she is very interesting and fun in her quirky ways.

Another great book from Benji Davies. I shared this story with my class and they really engaged well with it! The illustrations are particularly lovely and the children enjoyed exploring and commenting on them. They would all recommend this book to others and now want to re-read all our other books by the author.

I read this book to my Y6 class and they absolutely loved it! The illustrations are incredible, really eyecatching and thought provoking. We got so much discussion out of them. The story itself is beautiful, with Noi feeling distant from their Grandma and going on a journey to develop a new relationship. Their relationship caused a lot of discussion in the class.
My Y6 class also developed their vocabulary through reading this book. Some of the wording, such as ‘thrashed’ and ‘shimmering’ is worth discussion.
They have now requested more books by this author for our class library!

I wanted to read this book because I like sailing boats. This book is an adventure story about Noi and his Grandma. Noi goes to stay with his Grandma and she lives on a tiny rock and there is lots of water around it and lots of other rocks. Noi and his Grandma eat soup together and Noi's Grandma won't play with Noi because she is busy. When he gets bored he runs away to find something to do and finds a big rock with holes in it and a bird in it. I liked the book because it was good and funny. I liked the pictures as well.

Another great book from this author, my little boy has read a few and this one doesn't dissapoint. Illustrations again are really good. In this story boy is going to stay with Grandma where there is not much to do. But he makes his own adventure, which leads to fun and adventure with Grandma too. My little boy liked Grandma snoring and when they had loads of birds in there house.

A sweet book about an adventure at grandma's, who Noi doesn't think really cares, but it is clear she really does!  An approaching storm allows Noi to befriend a little bird, and Grandma's rescue of Noi leads to rescuing a number of birds as well, but it is the first bird who decides to stay.  I found this book better written than the other Benji Davies books, it flows better in my opinion.  I like the way Noi and the six cats are repeated at the beginning of each book, and the continuity of the characters in addition to the illustrations.  A lovely addition to our library and loved by my children (although it often leads to us reading the Storm Whale and the Storm Whale in Winter books too so bedtime does stretch out somewhat!).

I liked this book. I thought it was going to be about a bird who is a grandma! I liked the pictures of the birds and the boat. I like the grandma, she was a bit grumpy but nice at the end and they had fun. I like the big rock that Noi played in, I want to play in it too. My favourite part was the whales in the water.

My two year old and I both enjoyed this book. It's full of beautiful illustrations and it's not too long so held his interest. The relationship and later bond between Noi and his grandmother is captured very well. My son picked out little details like the crab but has become fixated on the Dad collecting Noi at the end! He seemed relieved that Noi hadn't been left with his grandmother so the story was a possibly little advanced for him.

Tonight me and my daughter Mila read this book before bed. We loved the illustrations, my daughter is 18 months and she enjoyed pointing out the animals on each page and Nois hat. I found the story easy to read and my daughter held her interest as each page only had a sentence or 2. As a picture book my daughter thoroughly enjoyed it, however to appreciate the story and the development of the relationship between Noi and his grandmother I would probably recommend this book to children a year or 2 older than my daughter
