#1 New York Times Bestseller and #1 TIME Best Book of the Year for 2017!
The exquisite and thought-provoking new book from the multi award-winning, internationally best-selling picture book creator of Lost and Found, Oliver Jeffers.
Well, hello.
And welcome to this Planet.
We call it Earth.
Our world can be a bewildering place, especially if you've only just got here. Your head will be filled with questions, so let's explore what makes our planet and how we live on it. From land and sky, to people and time, these notes can be your guide and start you on your journey. And you'll figure lots of things out for yourself. Just remember to leave notes for everyone else... Some things about our planet are pretty complicated, but things can be simple, too: you've just got to be kind.
Here We Are is the utterly heartfelt new book from Oliver Jeffers. We're glad you found it.
"An optimistic snapshot of contemporary life, this heartfelt hug of a book ought to become a classic" The Guardian

We had been waiting eagerly for this book to be released, and since my daughter got this for Christmas it has been read so many times.

As always it is full of Oliver Jeffers beautiful illustrations and thoughtful text.  The book explores our planet, our universe and everything in it.  It helps show the reader the value of looking after it and all the beauty it holds, in the plants, animals and people.

It is a beautiful explanation of our place on earth and is a beautiful way of teaching children (and adults alike).  Each page is full of wonderful pictures to explore.

A truly beautiful book which we have already bought other copies to gift to friends.

I am a big fan of Oliver Jeffers and have read many of his books to children. This one has to be one of my favourites, not only is it a lovely read but it features many educational muses of Oliver's understanding of the world. Written for his own child, this book would be great for young children but also has basic principles interesting for slightly older children. I have read this book to reception aged children (4-5) as well as to Year 5 (9-10) both groups were fascinated. My reading also inspired a parent to buy this for their own children. A delight!

I was so looking forward to the release of this book and am happy to say that I adored it.

Here We Are is not a story book as such, but an attempt by Jeffers to explore our place in the universe and pass what knowledge he has on to his new child.  It talks gently about our smallness, the way we are connected to the world, and all the excitement it holds.  The illustrations are rich in detail and there is plenty of humour ('look after [your body] as most bits don't grow back'), but the book also talks about the importance of inclusion and treating all people (and indeed, animals) kindly and equally. The core message is the importance of 'respect, consideration and tolerance' as it is applied to the planet and to all the people who live there.

I think that this book would be a fantastic and heartfelt gift for new parents. I thought that it beautifully captured the sense of wonder and hope and love and desire to pass something meaningful on to a new child. I'm also glad to be able to read it to my young daughter as she starts to grow up and explore the world.

This book is so lovely and my little one just adores it. My daughter told me she would read this book everyday to herself at school so I decided to get her a copy for at home. It is just a fantastic book and the illustrations are simply gorgeous!

This book is very good as it can introduce the world to little children and young people who have an interest in the basic science of our life on earth  This book was very useful and our teacher Mr booth (the best teacher ever) said it was to teach us the science that we would learn in year 5. Great gob Oliver as always.

Beautifully illustrated and text that makes you think (and love your planet and want to take care of it!).

It's a sweet explanation of who we are...people! And what our planet is made of, and what else lives on here with us. Basically, it's the perfect first book to help teach children about who we are.

The illustrations are really good, and we spent a long time examining them and seeing what we could see.
