What a beautiful classic tale with equally beautiful illsutraions. It starts of describing in detail about a beautiful dolls house, perfect in any little ones eyes. When the dolls go for a drive two little mice come and play. This is a lovely tale of how the mice explore the dolls house and get into mischief. It all ends well with them making it all up to the dolls. This is a great bedtime story that can be read in one go. My little one loves this read to her on a night.

Adore Beatrix Potter's books and this one is no exception. Eloise likes this book because of how much chaos the mice cause. it's also a cautionary tale about being naughty.

My children and I love the Beatrix Potter tales - the drawings are delightful and the stories are charming, with lots of old-fashioned words sprinkled across the text - great for extending the vocabulary of young ones. We have also had great conversations about what particular words mean and why they are not used so much nowadays. As the title of this book suggests, this is a story about two bad mice who venture out of their home to find a dolls house laden with food. After feasting, they decide to help themselves to furniture and other objects from the house! What will happen when they are discovered stealing?

We are working our way through the Beatrix Potter series with my two-year-old and I hesitated to read this one as I was put off by the title however I gave it a go. It's the story of two mice who go into a dolls house and trash the place. They mess it all up and take things. A strong moral lesson about respecting others' property and ultimately it turns out they weren't really bad mice after all. The dolls are unhappy about their house getting messed up by mice so bring in a policeman. Which we used to discuss how policemen can help us if we are worried. Ultimately I didn't really like this story as I read too many undertones into it (the concept of people being bad, policemen being something to be scared of) but my daughter liked the mischievous little mice!
