What would you do if you woke up to find all the grown-ups had disappeared? If you're like Lucy Dungston, you'll do anything to get to the bottom of it. With no grown-ups, chaos descends on Lucy's town. Kids are running wild, building roads of trampolines and eating cereal for every meal - but Lucy wants her mum back, and nothing is going to stop her. Not even the monsters who live in the upside-down world beneath her bed... Tom Fletcher's bestselling story is packed with stinkerful black-and-white illustrations by the disgustingly talented Shane Devries and is perfect for kids to read independently or together with a grown-up! Praise for The Creakers: 'A stonkingly good novels for the over-sevens . . . gleeful descriptions of malodorous underworld creatures, it's both a compelling adventure and a nuanced celebration of friendship and family love' The Guardian 'The illustrations are stunning and the storyline is full of twists and great ideas' R Patterson, Toppsta Reviewer
'10 out of 10 bum trumps!' Guff the Creaker

The Creakers is the best book I've ever read. Its so tense and you thing its going to end as bad as a book can end but it doesn't it ends in the best way possible. After every chapter Tom asks your if your ok and warns you that the next chapter won't be happier than the on you've just read. Its like the lemony Snicket books if you want a happy book close the right at the start, which if are scared easily don't read it but if your brave give a good go. First her dad disappears then her mum does a year or so after and all the other parents did so to. But luckily Lucy found them all in the Woleb

I love this book because it is very funny and cliff hanging.   It is all about a girl called Lucy who one day finds monsters under her bed called creakers.  They live in a backwards world called the woleb and they take the grown ups because they are taking the rubbish and they like rubbish..

This book was great! My favourite character was Lucy because she was brave even if she was scared in the inside she never gave up. I liked the book because it kept me reading on since it was so interesting. There are a LOT of illustrations in this book. It gave me an idea of all the scenery even without pictures! It’s a very adventurous book too. I recommend this book to everyone! Thank you.

The Creakers is a brilliant book.  I've been reading it with my mum every night at bed time.

It's funny and exiting, it's got fantastic sketchy illustrations.  I love the characters and I love that some of the characters from the Christmassauras are in it too.

IA fantastic kids book.  It's like a kids version of the TV series Stranger things - with the upside down and the Woleb.

I think I got into the story as much as my 10 year old did.  Tom Fletcher writes fantastically and talks directly to the audience throughout the story.  The little 'chats' in between the chapters are brilliant.
Love that his kids appear in the story as two cheeky little boys too.

I will definatly be recommending this book to other parents and shall be buying a copy for my nephew as soon as it's avaliable to buy.

I loved this book. It's about this girl called Lucy and all the grown-ups are missing from Whiffimgton town. Then Lucy her friends Ella and Norman find a note saying the grown ups are leaving the kids forever but Lucy doesn't believe this. She finds these repulsive creatures under her bed! Under her bed is the world of the Woleb. This is my second favourite book. It's really funny and I recommend it for ages 7-12!

When Lucy Dungston is curious of the night-time creaks in her house she is surprised by what she finds!
Another great book from Tom Fletcher with a few guest appearances from some of his family and magical illustrations. This is a feel good, mystery solving, things-that-go-creak-in-the-night book, that tells of friendship and teamwork from very different characters...head strong Lucy, lonely Norman and annoying Ella.
I'd recommend this book to any age, whether its a parent reading it to a child (or themself) or a mid-range child reader.

Another fab book from Tom Fletcher. I read this with my daughte aged 10 and we really enjoyed it. Lucy wakes up with the rest of her village to find all the adults have disappeared. She is left to find out what happened to them and bring them back. It turns out there are monsters ( the creakers) who come out at night and who have taking the adults as they were wasting all the rubbish which they need. It’s such a fab story line which you just want to read on to find out what’s going to happen next. Love how the author talks to
You inbetween chapters to check in and warn you about reading on.
Highly
Recommend to everyone

This book was devoured within an hour and was a joy to read. Because of the disgusting Creakers, Wiffington is grown-up free! While all the other children are messing up the town, Lucy Dungston is determined to save the grown-ups from the mysterious creatures that live under Wiffington, the Creakers....

A lovely yet entertaining story of friendship. Full of cliff hangers with under lying morals to the story regarding friendship, not judging other people and looking after our homes! I loved the added notes from the author between each chapter checking the reader is ok and not too scared.

THE CREAKERS

The Creakers is a very mysterious book and me and my mum loved reading it.  The story throughout was at times sad, funny, exciting and scary (a little) .I felt much sympathy for the Creakers but I didn't really like them. Lucy was a very sweet and kind girl who became the stories hero.Their are some great illustrations throughout.  This book is one of the types of books which makes you want to read every night until it is finished.

This is another funny book from Tom Fletcher. My daughter was slightly apprehensive about this book as she is very easily scared but was completely fine. the characters are really likable and there are some real laugh out loud moment in the book. This went down really well with my daughter, although if i am completely honest I would say this isn't quite as good as his other book 'The Christmasaurus'
