At night when you are sleeping
There's a party in your house,
It's a pumping, jumping, funky bash
When all the lights go out . . .

When the sun goes down, the Kitchen Disco starts up - and all the fruit in the fruit bowl come out to play. There are lemons who break-dance, tangerines who twirl and some very over-excited apples.

Kitchen Disco is a zany and hilarious rhyming picture book for young children, featuring a stunning holographic foil spread in the middle of the book.

Georgie chose this book from the school library this week, and we love it!
It has wonderful bright illustrations, a fun rhyming pattern and is funny!
Georgie wants to be the pineapple and I want to be the mango.
I like the handwriting font that is used instead of a typeface.
Fun book that lets your imagination run wild.

Kitchen Disco 9780571307883

this is a great book with lots of colours.  the story is written in rhyme and therefor the child can almost guess the words so great for learning to read. As there are lots of fruits and veg illustrated and discussed in the book, it was also really good for having a discussion about the types of fruit, their colours and what they were doing.  Matilda found it really amusing that fruit get up and dance - we had a 15 minute discussion as to whether our fruit at home gets up in the night and has a disco, and if it does, why does jasper (our dog) not bark! I love that this book is non gender specific for a change and is completely evokative of a childs imagination and something out of the norm - not fairy, unicorn, nursery rhyme related in the slightest.  wonderful.

This is my favourite book. It tells the story of all the fruit having a party at night time. Part of the story repeats throughout (like a chorus) and I like to join in and do some dance moves of my own. A really fun book. Everyone should read it.

Lovely bright, zany and fun book for young children with dancing fruit, what's not to love? My Boys thought it was hilarious and since they read the book at Christmas time I regularly find fruit and other items with eyes stuck on from their craft box so it obviously has stayed with them. Would recommend to anyone wanting something fun to read to their children.

This book is brilliant and at this moment my daughter's favourite! We read it every night and I have to say I haven't seen her so excited for a very long time:) When we read the story she shows all the figures she spots in the book. She loves the cool pineapple who says YO! She's learnt the names of fruits really quickly so it's great book for bilingual children.
Lots of colours, lots of fun cause that this book is so special!
This book is a part of the bookstart scheme.

My daughter received this book as part of the book start scheme from school. They had already  read it within  her class  but she was very  excited to  have it read again to her by  us.
It's a very catchy verse  used within the book  and the pictures are very engaging  describing what is going on within the book. The only issue I  had was there was no real story  in the book.  never  the less its a  lovely  book.

I read it to Little One aged 2 aged 2
Kitchen Disco 9780571307883
4 stars
My daughter found this book absolutely hilarious. Accompanied by her cousin who knows this book well, they were both so excited. The story is all about fruits partying once their "owners" have left the kitchen. It is a fun concept that seemingly gets children rather giddy. My daughter found the dance moves pages the best where you see how each fruit dances. After a good party the fruits sleepily return to their bed..a fruit bowl. A very fun read.

This is a great book with fab colourful illustrations and catchy rhymes. Even my 8 year old who often refuses to read picture books, enjoys reading this with his brother. Both my boys think the idea of fruit having a party whilst you're in bed is hilarious!

I read it to MAK aged 4 aged 4
Kitchen Disco 9780571307883
4 stars
Our four year old loves the fruit with the "funny faces" in this story of the fruit partying at night. The bright illustrations help hold the little ones attention, only criticism for me as a critical adult, is the book's flow is a little lost at the end of the story. I thought it had ended, but then the repetition recurs, and some of the typeface looks like it was overlooked during the editing process. As I said though, from a four year old's perspective, it is a fun book.

I read it myself (an adult)
Kitchen Disco 9780571307883

Bought this after reading rave reviews on Toppsta.... I had a quick flick through by myself and couldnt really understand what the fuss was about.... I also didnt like that the text is all in CAPITALS which (I find) makes it harder to read and "perform"... and its not great for a preschooler/primary child who should be focused on lower case letters / capital letters used correctly. There's not a lot of story - just works through various fruits and how they "get down" and dance at the midnight disco when all the humans are asleep. It's ok, but I think we probably missed the window age-wise - it would be better for an old 2yr old / young 3 yr old....
