The pig lives in a house in the middle of the wild wood. But inside the wild wood there's a bad wolf - and this hungry wolf wants a little pig for dinner! But a house made of bricks is hard to blow down, so instead of gobbling Pig, Wolf moves to plan B: gobbling Red Riding Hood's poor defenceless grandma! But his despicable plan is soon uncovered and Pig decides to rescue Gran! Will this plucky pig make it in time? A fabulously funny twist on two classic fairy tales: Little Red Riding Hood and The Three Little Pigs. The Great Gran Plan is the first book by an exciting picture book pairing: the uniquely talented author and poet, Elli Woollard and best-selling illustrator, Steven Lenton.

On a bit of a Steven Lenton binge this week, we have just read this great little story by Elli Woollard.  Love the lyrical storytelling and we are always looking for subverted fairy tales (and this is a really fun example).  You will enjoy spotting all the little fairy tale references (beautifully illustrated by Steven Lenton) with your small people, and enjoy all the puns yourself!  I am now absolutely obsessed with having some piggy tie-backs on my curtains....it's not long until my birthday....

This book was a firm favourite in our Hooked on Books group. Lots of repetition for children to remember and join in with and we loved all the rhyming as well. Lovely colourful illustrations which the children loved looking at over and over again. A twist on the classics, three little pigs and little red riding hood. The children enjoyed everything about the story line and their favourite character was the little pig. The front cover was eye catching and we had fun guessing what might actually happen in the story.
