From the award-winning author of Orangeboy and Indigo Donut, a new short story written especially for World Book Day 2019.

When Soraya's younger brother Farhad runs off into the freezing night, Soraya and her friend, Austin, are in a race against time to find him. High above the streets, Farhad's guilt closes in. He doesn't want to be found.

A story of two friends, one missing boy and a secret as precious as gold.

This quick read is emotional and heart wrenching. Soraya's uncle is dead after getting into a fight. Her brother Farhad, isn't coping very well but there's more to the grief than meets the eye.

A fab book by a talented author.

This is one of the few times one of the charactes has my name!

I think it made Alisha realise how lucky she is, it raised some interesting questions and made her appreciate her own life more. I think it has to be for 11+ I think younger readers might find it upsetting.

The book does need a sequel as it has left some unanswered questions

From the moment you start reading this story you will be hooked. The family dynamic, the grief, the struggles with the community, friendship, there is so much packed into this book.

Soraya has the weight of the world on her shoulders. She is the go between in her family and desperate to be accepted by her friends while trying to please her extremely strict father who struggles to show his love for his family.

There were so many questions left unanswered in this story that I hope there will be more from Patrice Lawrence.

I would recommend this to children aged 11+.

This is a very enjoyable but quite a sad story.  It is about 2 friends, a boy & a girl and the girls brother.  They are going through some tough times and the boy goes missing.  It follows the friends as they set out to find him before its too late.  This book leaves alot of the story unanswered and I would definitely read a sequel if the writer decides to do one.  I would recommend this book for ages 11+

A book that leaves you wanting more is always good! Although this book has a somber tone it is easy to get hooked on the story and the characters. You really get a feel of the family and are gripped to know what will happen to the characters especially Farhad. A fantastic read- we need a sequel!

I enjoyed this book because it was modern and quite interesting. The characters were likeable and you grew atatched to them as you read on. I would say that this book is a comedy and mystery story. Although there was little to no illustrations the description of characters meant that you could picture them in your mind and their surroundings. This book made me feel lucky as I have a better life than these people.
