World Book Day 2019 will take place on Thursday 7th March 2019 and aside from the World Book Day books, the theme is 'Share a Story'.

World Book Day background
World Book Day was originally created by UNESCO and first celebrated in April 1995. The UK isn't the only country which celebrates World Book Day! It is celebrated all over the world on 23rd April but in the UK it always runs on the first Thursday in March. World Book Day 2018 was celebrated on 1st March and World Book Day 2017 was run on Thursday 2nd March. Book tokens are sent to all UK Primary Schools and this year can be redeemed anytime between Thursday 28th February 2019 and Sunday 31st March 2019 at participating bookshops.
Can World Book Day tokens be used online? Currently World Book Day tokens can only be used at participating bookshops and not online.
Does WHSmith accept World Book Day tokens? According to the World Book Day website, all major supermarkets including Asda, Tesco, Morrisons, Sainsbury’s, Marks & Spencer and most large bookshop chains – WH Smith, Waterstones, Eason etc and hundreds of independent booksellers will accept the book tokens but to save you a wasted journey, it might be worth ringing ahead to check first.
