I'm a little monster, I am smiley, small and sweet,
With gorgeous little monster eyes and furry monster feet.
There's just one thing that you should know ...
I have to be the boss. And if you don't remember ...
I'll get very VERY CROSS!

It's Little Monster's birthday and his friends are coming to his party. But it's not much fun playing party games with someone who always has to win ... or having birthday tea with someone who wants ALL the food for himself. It's time this grumpy, grouchy Monster learned how to behave!

With funny rhyming text and delightful illustrations, this is the perfect picture book for little monsters everywhere.

This book is hilarious. It tells the story of a cute monster that gets cross when he doesn’t get his own way. My children found the story really funny and it has become an instant hit.
The pictures match the story brilliantly.

The story tells of the importance playing nicely and to be kind to others.

We have read this quite a few times already by request and I find it flows nicely, with rhymes. My daughter quickly picked up the monster’s friends looked sad when he wasn’t sharing etc and then the following page happy when the monster gave them some food. I think it’s good to show how you can feel like doing things your own way but showing the impact and actually it didn’t make the monster happy. Yet everyone was happy at the end. A nice story with lovely illustrations. I like that it has a message to little ones about their emotions that they can pick up whilst enjoying the story and relate to the little monster.

Grayson loved doing the angry voices. He loved the monster character. The book is brilliant and helps children to understand their emotions when they get angry.

We're grateful to have received this lovely book this morning. It's already a hit with my daughter. She was deeply engrossed by the lovely bright illustrations and listened intently to the story. It's great to talk about feelings and how little monster is making his friends feel from his actions. It's a story that will spark off some great conversations the more times we read it. It will also be one to get out when my daughter is having her own "cross" moments. She's already started saying the phrase "don't make me cross"

EDIT: My daughter has wanted to read this every night since we received it and still listens intently through out. Definitely added to her favourites.

A lovely book to highlight to children why being kind and sharing is always better than being cross.  Monster isn't very nice to his friends at his party and my children loved pointing out what he could do better.  The books pictures were also wonderfully constructed and provided lots of talking points throughout the story.

I read this to both of my girls and they both loved it! The pictures were very funny and the way the story rhymed made it flow like a song.
It was a good lesson to learn to share and  it be mean and greedy all the time (but there is nothing wrong with maybe wanting to be the boss SOME of the time haha)!
Very enjoyable and a firm favourite!

Poppy really enjoyed this book. She’s 5 months old so usually her preference is a touchy-feely book, but she found the pictures engaging and seemed to enjoy following the bouncy rhyme scheme.

The book uses bold type, capitals and varying font sizes to shape the way you read it and I think this really increased Poppy’s enjoyment of it - it definitely improved my reading performance!

Whilst Poppy is too young to understand the moral messages of the book, it’s one we’ll keep coming back to again and again, so the ideas of being kind and sharing will be great messages for us in the future. We’ll be eagerly looking out for others by the same author/illustrator.

Excellent book and a good follow on from the 'Don't call me sweet' book which my 3yo enjoyed.
Good learning tips on how to lose friends quickly from being too bossy and rude. It pays to be kind and polite.

This came at a good time too as we're preparing for a birthday and it gave some good tips.
Easy to read along to and follow the words as he's learning to read.

We like this book about a little monster’s birthday party, where the monster isn’t very polite and everything goes wrong. But when the monster starts to be polite to their friends they have a much better time. A nice way to teach and remind my little one to be nice to other people and share. The illustrations are nice and the book is fun to read.

The monster was cute and I liked all of the yucky food at his party. I didn't like the ending because I didn't feel that the monster learned his lesson.
