A warm, uplifting story for young readers about a boy and his dog and the power of music to heal; a first-time collaboration from two Irish Children's Laureates.

Oz had lived most of his life in the dark, sold by a cruel man to a family that soon abandons him on a landfill. One day, Patrick who had wanted a pet all his life has the chance to have his very own pet, whilst staying at his Grandad's house for the summer. Patrick soon adopts Oz the puppy and attempts to get his bark back, as it is lost. Eventually, this happens by 'singing' to Beethoven and by the power of music...….. A little later, Oz notices his owner is sad and attempts to get his 'bark' back as well.

I loved this. It made me cry in some parts and was such a lovely read. It was so lovely that the dog noticed that the boy was sad and tried to get his 'bark' happiness back. The illustrations were gorgeous too. I would recommend this for 10+ as the storyline running through it may be difficult for younger readers to process.
