Splish, splosh, splash! It's Splash Day and everyone is ready for a water fight! They've got their trunks and wetsuits, some wellies and rubber rings, and Mrs Rose even has a great big hose! Join in with all the splashing fun in Nick Sharratt's beautiful debut Little Gem. Bursting with lots of rhyme, rhythm and energy for little ones to enjoy, it's the perfect book for a young reader's first steps on the path to reading independence.

Fantastic bright colourful book . Big pictures and a sentence on each page ideal for new readers and read alone . Lovely idea and both my children are asking for this at their school so I has been added to the school bag to show their teachers .

This is a lovely and fun book based on a real life event that takes places at a school every year where all the teachers and pupils have a big water fight. We love Nick Sharratt's clear and colourful illustrations, they are really appealing. The story is simple but engaging and it's a great book for early or reluctant readers. Children feel like they are reading a more grown up book without getting overwhelmed. The story is told in prose but there is a rhyming element which is fun to read too. The illustrations are inclusive and representative of children in the UK.

This little book is filled with pictures and small sentences above or under each picture, so that the child can see what is going on as you read it. My daughter enjoyed watching the water fight happening. She also enjoyed listening to the jokes that are inside the cover. She’s trying to memorise them. She also found a spot the difference in the back of the book so she enjoyed doing that a lot. A nice book for children starting to read.

This book is great for kids as its easy to read and has lovely bright pictures. It is a good transition book if you're going from picture books to chapter books as it is longer than a normal picture book but does not have traditional chapters like a chapter book. The edition we got was a compact size, so it would be great to take on holiday.

Nick Sharatt is just fantastic! This book is full of fantastic illustrations and is a brilliant transition book into reading sentences for children. My son absolutely loved this book! It's a fantastic story and he was able to read some of the sentences as they are not too long. There was an added bonus of jokes at the front and spot the difference at the back. Fab!

This book is really nice if you like water fights and playing with water generally.  It’s good because it doesn’t have too many words on a page.  The paper is yellow which helps with Dyslexia.  I would recommend this book.

This was a fun book for My daughter to attempt to read to herself. She was slightly intimidated by the amount of words on the page and the small font at first but she enjoyed the content which helped her persevere. It is well illustrated with bright fun colours.

Review written on behalf of my son, He loves that the book shows you can have a fun reward at school for working hard, all the children are friends and they look happy and there are lots of pictures in the book.

This book is good however I would have thought the writing would be that bit bigger for the age range this book is aimed at, however that said it is a good story line that helps children see that it can be fun to go to school.
