She competed for more than 40 years and is the only woman honored by the National Rodeo Hall of Fame, the National Cowgirl Hall of Fame, and the Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame. In her will, she established the Tad Lucas Memorial Award to honor women who excel in any field related to Western heritage. Illustrations from cowgirl and Western artist Stephanie Ford accompany the text while sidebars provide rodeo facts. Laura B. Edge earned a BA in education from the University of Texas at Austin. After retiring from teaching Edge jumped full-time into writing and is a member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators. Stephanie Ford loves drawing horses and has done some trick riding! She is a member of the International Society of Scratchboard Artists and Women Artists of the West. Ford lives on a ranch in Texas!
