Wow! This is a great, inspirational book. It came at a perfect time as we were writing a biography about another woman who we had found inspirational. She came to England in 1939 as part of the Kindertransport. We shared lots of texts out of the book and it now takes pride of place on our bookshelf. Thank you Toppsta!

It’s an amazing book learning about 50 woman and girls who have made a change in this world. My nine year old and twelve year old enjoyed reading and sharing the facts with family. It shows you if you have a goal or believe in yourself anything is possible.

HerStory is an absolute must have. This book is perfect.
Beautiful illustrations, engaging text and a wonderful selection of women to inspire children. I particularly like the layout of the book. Split into five sections - Believe and Lead, Imagine and Create, Help and Heal, Think and Solve, and Hope and Overcome - the women are grouped by category rather than by timeline. This makes the book brilliant for dipping into and makes it wonderfully easy to make comparisons and linkages between the represented women. It also encourages readers to identify their own area of passion and expertise. There is a pictorial timeline included at the end of the book to help children see how Herstory has developed through the ages.
More than a book highlighting the achievements of women, this is a call to arms. It's a rousing celebration of the strength and passion of women and an inspirational leg-up to the girls and young women of today, encouraging them to follow their dreams and shake things up to change the world. Every school and library should have a copy. We owe it to the world.

HerStory’ celebrates the lives of 50 incredible women and girls who defied the challenges and barriers that were set against them and who through their lives, work and words help inspire us today to make our world a better place. Crafted by Katherine Halligan into different collections of brave leaders, talented artists, gifted healers and committed teachers as well as the most accomplished scientists and mathematicians. It allows us to embrace a past and present and talk about not history but herstory focusing on these women and girls who did extraordinary things. Packed with inspirational quotes, engaging details and comprehensive facts about a wealth of well known and lesser known women and children this is a must have read. I found myself totally engrossed in this remarkable book and will return to it time and time again. Exquisitely produced with the most stunning illustrations by Sarah Walsh this is a treasure trove of information that will satisfy the appetite of the most curious child.

I loved the sheer variety of women and girls featured, and the fact that there were some unfamiliar names amongst the more well-known entries.  Although this anthology features solely females, it’s not just for girls! Book Boy and I had some very interesting discussions about the struggles some of the ladies had to overcome and how these were compounded because of their gender.

A stunningly-produced guide to some of the most inspirational figures in history. A must-have for any home, classroom or library.
