It's the summer, and we're back with Greg Heffley and his crazy family in the fourth mega-selling instalment of Jeff Kinney's hilarious Diary of a Wimpy Kid series! The way I like to spend my summer holidays is in front of the TV, playing video games with the curtains closed and the light turned off.

Unfortunately, Mom's idea of the perfect summer holiday is different from mine. This summer, a beach holiday isn't on the cards, and Greg's mom's vision of 'family togetherness' really doesn't sound a whole lot of fun. But there's a brand-new addition to the Heffley family to contend with and it looks like Greg might be outnumbered. It could be a real dog of a summer . . . The perfect series to get children of 7+ interested in books. Even those who struggle with reading won't be able to put Greg's diaries down! Praise for Jeff Kinney and the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series:

'The world has gone crazy for Jeff Kinney's Diary of a Wimpy Kid series' - The Sun 'Kinney is right up there with J K Rowling as one of the bestselling children's authors on the planet' - Independent 'Hilarious!' - Sunday Telegraph

This book is about Greg who is the wimpy kid.  In another wimpy year at middle school Greg gets a dog.  You might think this is good news but Greg just wants to play video games.  He is not interested in walking the dog and picking up poos.  I know how he feels because I have to walk my dog every day AND pick up poos.  I am reading all of the wimpy kid books.  This book is just as good as the other ones! I really LOVED IT.  I even read this on the LOO!   LOL

These are one of the few books that my daughter will read over and over again. Even though we have watched the films, she just loves them. The books are actually done in a diary format, with children's doodles so it isn't a huge portion of text which can over phase some children. This book doesn't disappoint.

Cram jam full with humorous pranks.
It shows you how growing up can be hard and that actions have consequences. And how brothers are mean and annoying like manny he is a vile character as well as Fragliy his awful behaviour makes me quisy

Diary of a Wimpy Kid- Dog Days was very funny again, much like it's predecessors. All Greg wants to do is sit in front of the TV playing video games this summer but his Mom has other ideas!! Poor Greg.

There's a new addition to the family this time around and sending Rodrick off to go and get his bowl inscribed is a terrible idea- he can't spell for toffee!! Greg displays his more neurotic side in this book- who doesn't like public pools!?

A full five starts from me, i couldn't put it down. The doodles had me in stitches too!

It's the summer holidays and Greg plans to spend all of it playing computer games.  However, his Dad has other plans.  Greg, as usual manages to get out of it by lying about having a job in a country club, which of course goes wrong when Roderick finds out.  All the usual fun that young children seem to really enjoy.  Both of my sons love these books and they have given them the confidence to choose more grown up books rather than picture books.

I really like these books and I want them for Christmas. I have not read many of them but I enjoyed the one I have read. My favourite part of this book was when Greg was at the Town Pool but to get to the pool you had to go through the men's shower room and when Greg was going through it he saw all the hairy men getting showered in the open. This was really funny. I laughed a lot! I also liked it when Greg saw his cousin Benjy and Benjy could read but he still wasn't potty trained! His uncle said he read chapter books but Greg didn't believe it. He said he wouldn't brag if his kid was reading chapter books already and still wasn't potty trained. This was funny because he looks funny.
Greg likes to spend his summer holidays inside the house with the curtains closed, underneath a blanket with the lights off, playing video games on the TV, while eating crisps!
I would definitely recommend this book as a start to anyone who hasn't read any of the wimpy kid books yet because it makes me laugh a lot and I think if you like laughing and reading it is a good book to choose!
There was nothing I didn't like!

This is as dull as the previous 3 books, very similar stuff, Greg still isn't a nice kid and he needs some decent parenting, unfortunately his parents are pathetic so I don't see that happening soon. And you can't help but feel sorry for poor Rowley. Rodrick's pranks are brilliant, he has taken them to a new level here.

The thing that bugged me the most in this book was Greg gets 3 months off for his summer holidays! What the hell! who gets 3months off? When I was a lad it was an incredibly short 6weeks.

Some good news though, I've managed to talk my daughter into taking a break with a David Walliams book. wooooo
