This is great, spellbinding book. It is about three Widdershins sisters, namely Charlie, Fliss and Betty who are trapped by an ancient curse - they can't leave Crowstone or its surrounding islands without dying by sunset. There are three objects which they can use to help them which are a carpet bag, Russian dolls and a mirror. Betty and her sisters must work together to break the curse before it is too late. I really, really, really enjoyed this book and I would recommend this book to readers aged 10+.

This book is a real page turner. Once I started it I found it hard to stop. The story follows Betty and her two sisters, Fliss and Charlie, on their quest to break a curse that has been on their family for decades with the help of three magical items that they inherited. The quest takes them to a prison and an ancient tower but will they be able to do what many others before them have failed to do?
I thought the way the story was told was very clever and certainly increased the tension, but I'll not give away too much...
I liked the fact that there were lots of strong female characters and the way the relationships between them were described, especially the sisters. My favourite was Charlie because, even though she is the youngest, she has an important part to play and is very brave.

The only thing I didn’t like about this book was I couldn’t do anything else until I’d finished it! It was a magical exciting tale that I just adored. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone and everyone.

If you enjoy magical adventures and stories that take you right to the heart of another place and time, you'll love 'A Pinch of Magic. The first chapter is filled with mystery and this continues right the way through. The Widdershin sisters are perfectly written (with Betty being our favourite, of course!). There are magical objects, curses, and all the elements that you'd hope to see in this genre. It's a joy to read and we really hope that there will be another adventure for the sisters in the future.

This is the fantastic, atmospheric and absorbing story of three sisters , a deathly curse and the magical objects that may doom or save the siblings from a century old, dark destiny.
A Pinch of Magic hooked me immediately with the dark and brooding setting of Crowstone and the mysterious past history of it's feared prison and tower and the imprisoned Witch bent on revenge.  In the present day of the story , the Widdershin sisters learn of the curse that now follows them and are a force to be reckoned with. It's impossible not to be charmed, engaged and emotionally invested in each one of them during their frantic quest to beat the curse that binds them to remain in the dank misery of Crowestone or face certain death.
There is danger and treachery around every corner and just the right level of threat and fear for the reader's nerves to jangle. The story pits the loyalty and the trust of the Widdershin sisters (despite their differences) against the betrayal and jealousy of the past where young witch Sorcha's magic is exposed by bitter ,cruel sister Prue and sets in motion a handed down curse against Prue's future relations. Add two escaped prisoners , who add both elements of real villiany and real friendship to the sisters and you have a nail biting journey of a tale.
Many years ago , as a young reader, I fell in love with the dramas of the March sisters in Little Women and now I  have a whole new sisterly set of siblings to hopefully follow and be captivated by with the Widdershin girls!

One night out trick or treating.... trying to sneak away on a boat.... now Betty realises why exploring has always been a threat in her life. Because she is trapped. Trapped on an island, with no escape that leads to anything but death...... I really, really really enjoyed this book, and would definitely give it 5/5 stars. Also I would recommend it to ages 11+.It is a really good adventure and mystery, and made me really hope that they succeed throughout the book. The main characters are Betty, Fliss, Charlie, Colton and, later in on the book, Jacob. This book is really gripping with a slightly slow start but gets  better and better, until you can’t put it down!!!

I mainly enjoyed reading this book and about the main character (Betty widdershins) because she enjoyed mysteries and adventures. I also enjoyed how the book describes the story and takes the reader on a magical journey and into another world.whilst reading this book you can be sitting in your room or in the living room and you could easily imagine yourself in the story and all of your surroundings.

An enjoyable, magical tale of three sisters trying to break an ancient curse.   It has strong characters, a prison break plot, magical objects and time travel.  The perfect recipe for a fantastic book.  It is going to be a must read for 2019!  I'm really grateful for having the opportunity to read it before publication.  It is going straight on my must read recommendation list for my year 6 class.

We were so over the moon to have won this incredible book in your giveaway! So much so that even though it only arrived last night, we have already read the prologue and first chapter.  We are hooked! Some of the children described the prologue and spine tinging and many (including myself) even got goosebumps! The descriptions and connections to make, make this story so much more exciting and we absolutely cannot wait to keep reading and find out how the two events are connected.  We will most definitely be writing another review when we have finished it! Thank you so much again, er truly appreciate it!

This is a great story - a real page turner trying to solve the mystery of a curse that had been placed on girls in the family for generations  . It’s beautifully written and has a really strong inspiring female character as the lead. My 9 year old found the opening chapter quite tense and a little scary  but she is often like that with these types of books . We couldn’t  wait to finish and find out what happened in the story . I would really recommend it but would say it’s quite a grown up book for an 8 / 9 year old  do may be better for 9/10/11 year olds who like mystery stories .

We will be reading other books by this author
