This is a wonderful edition of A Christmas Carol!  This classic story is split up into 14 double pages in chronological order, and you must find several items in each picture, for example key characters and items.  The pictures are beautifully illustrated, and each section has a summary of what is happening in the picture.  I think it would be a wonderful way to introduce this classic story, and both my 5 and 8 year old loved looking through pictures, and recognised the names of the characters.  It was a perfect book to read together at Christmas, and would make a great gift at Christmas!

A beautifully illustrated version of the Classic ‘ The Christmas Carol!’  The book not only tells the lovely story, but has lots for children to seek and find on each page. My children loved looking for each picture, all competing to see who could find it the quickest! An enchanting way to captivate the reader!

This book breaks up the story of A Christmas Carol into small simple chapters, the main emphasis being the beautiful illustrations and finding the characters in them to follow what is going on in the story. Addie really enjoyed this concept and was entertained for a long time reading and searching. A really different approach to story telling and one that we would definitely look out for in the future

I love how this has been turned from essentially quite a grown up story into an easy reading, fun and factual book for children. My son recognised some of the characters and enjoyed searching for characters and items within the story. The illustrations are lovely - classic and artistic rather than over the top bright and modern - a perfect Christmas read and one that will surely remain a favourite in our house.

I tried reading A Christmas Carol last year but i struggled to get into it, i suppose it was the language difference. I was keen to read it as so many stories adapt the original and i wanted to see where they derived from, alas at the time, like i say i just couldn't get though it.

I really liked this search and find version of the book, not only did it give a very very shortened version of the story- think basically this happened, then this happened, then this happened- it also was completely and utterly beautifully visual. The artwork suits it well and is lovely, every page is a real delight.

I think this book is a great introduction to Charles Dickens classic tale and it has made me want to try reading the original again, while appreciating this book at the same time.

This is a very simple re-telling of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol. There is a very brief summary of a part of the story on each page and down the left hand side there are cameos of characters and objects for children to find in the main picture.  If you're really stuck there are helpful answer pages at the back of the book. This is a lovely book just to sit and look through.  It is well presented with lovely illustrations, which I was happy to look at more than once!  I have read this with my granddaughter (not quite 3 yet) who initially found the people and things tricky to find, but when we read it again a week later, she enjoyed being able to find them!  I am a school librarian, so I thought I would see what older children made of the book, so I took it into school and gave it to one of the year 5 children (aged 10) when they were having their library time.  I thought I would have time to pass it around a few children, but she spent the whole half an hour engrossed in the book and said she really loved it and it was a good introduction to the story. My only slight criticism was that one of the characters was right in the centrefold of the book, making him rather tricky to find!  However, I think this is a lovely book with appeal to quite a wide age range.

My son and I both loved looking through this book.  It offers a twist on the classic tale with the search and find element on each page and the illustrations really help to bring the book to life.

About Charles Dickens

Charles Dickens has to be one of Britain’s most important authors. Dickens’ books are full of intrigue, twists and turns but it is the vivid characters that make them so enduringly popular. Characters that are grotesque, endearing, sinister and comic and include some of the best-known literary figures: Fagin and Oliver Twist, Miss Havisham and Ebenezer Scroo...
