From the best-selling author of Horrible Histories...

17,300 years ago; Lascaux, France

Willow isn't the strongest or fastest in his tribe, he is careful and clever. But that's not what matters to the other boys. All they care about who is the best hunter, and who can provide meat for the tribe. So when the brawny and brash Bull takes over as the tribe's chief, it's going to take all of Willow's wits to survive.

A brand new and exciting tale, based on real historical and archaeological evidence, this story is full of Terry Deary's imaginative style and dry wit.

It is a historic book, which tells you all about the stone age and all of the drawings that the stone age people did.

My favourite part was when the tribe was going to fight the bull.

I recommend it to people who like History or Topic lessons.

A delightful story linked to real findings from the stone age.  Children interested in history would enjoy this book and I love that the characters join together again. An interesting way of providing information. The links between Willow and Bull are lovely.

My 7 year old son was initially reluctant to have this book read to him. But as soon as I started it he was hooked and didn’t want me to stop. It’s very well written and gives a good impression of how it was to live in Stone Age times.  Perfect for this age group as they study early man in ks2.
My son would like to hear the Saxon tales by the same author now!

I liked reading this book as the story was based in stone age times. My favourite character was Willow who was brave and very determined to help with hunting in spite of his crushed leg. He was kind and could think good ideas to help hunters. I also came to know about life during stone age time. So, I enjoyed reading this book as it was fun way of learning.

Finlay is very much into his historic-based stories at the moment, about pretty much anything from dinosaurs to the Industrial Revolution. He enjoyed learning about the stone age through the characters and went on to research further in the library. We will read more of Terry Deary's books.
