One boy. One disappointing superpower. Can Dylan tame a bunch of hyper iguanas and come up with a masterful plan to save the WORLD? Yeah, probably ... but he's going to need a MASSIVE cheese pizza. Perfect for fans of Tom Gates, Future Ratboy and My Brother is a Superhero . Dylan has wanted a superpower for as long as he can remember, especially since his brother and sister have got really cool ones. But when his wish finally comes true, Dylan is MIGHTILY disappointed. For Dylan has become ... Iguana Boy. He can talk to Iguanas ... RUBBISH! And when supervillain Celina Shufflebottom kidnaps all the superheroes in London, Dylan must work out how to use his new team of chatty iguanas to save the day. He's going to have to think outside the box, (the pizza box) , if he's going to become the hero he's always dreamed of. If he's going to make Iguana Boy cool. 'HILARIOUS and so silly - superheroes, reptiles and pizza ... AWESOME, why didn't I think of that?!' Tom Fletcher

I loved reading this book as it was very funny and interesting. In this book, a boy Dylan has siblings with superhero powers and he always wanted to be superhero like them.  I enjoyed reading how he gets his superpower.

Jacob is only 5 but is becoming a real book worm so I was looking to advance from picture books to stories with a little bit more substance and introduce him to some chapter books and this was a great first choice.

It was funny, and engaging and had a slight comic book feel so we didn't feel like we'd jumped into the deep end and were reading a lengthy novel.

It's a story about a boy who wants to be a super hero - so your typical child, only he doesn't have a real power until he has to look after his brothers Iguana and realises he can communicate with them and together with pizza they set out to save the world!

It was a brilliant read and my son was desperate for just one more chapter and didn't want to put it down. He understood the jokes and wit even though he's slightly younger than the target audience and I would really recommend it.

Wow!  The children all absolutely loved this book, it is bonkers.  It was a fun read after our SATs just what they needed.  Can't say any more than that!  Read it if you want to be entertained.

I really enjoyed this book. It is very silly, but very funny. I liked the illustrations, especially of the ninja iguanas. It is a bit strange having Iguana Boy as a superhero and Platypus Kid as a villain. The heroes' plans are really weird - including Dylan (Iguana Boy) dressed as a Penguin holding cookies and pizza. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who likes funny superhero adventure books.

This is a fun, zany book with lots of illustrations for those readers who need a bit of encouragement and are put off by swathes of text.

If you like super hero stories, and especially if you like really funny super hero stories, then Iguana Boy is for you. It has a really fast pace and a mix of text, pictures and even some comic strips to keep readers on their toes! We loved how silly it was from start to finish; it made us laugh so much!

This book is really funny with some brilliant illustrations. I started reading it to my grandkids, 8 & 5, at the table while they ate, needless to say they couldn't keep still & kept coming closer to see what would happen next. Great discussion about what "odd" super-powers they'd like to have. We haven't finished the book yet,- it's gone on holiday with them to read for themselves.
Thank you Toppsta, we love such silliness!

My little boy has been unwell so this book has been sat unread for a while but we read in in hospital and it seemed to cheer him up. He seemed to identify Dylan the main character who feels his skills and super powers are not really that good or cool.  He aspires to be like his siblings .This book follows Dylan as he puts in a plan of action to  bring down Celina Shufflebottom who has kidnapped all the superheroes. This book is silly and fun and delightful for a child , my son has mild autism so the message behind this silly  story was a powerful one in helping him gain a little confidence.

Dylan really wants a superpower, his brother and sisters have superpowers but he doesn't and he wants one! Dylan gets his wish but it isn't the superpower he was expecting, his superpower is to be able to talk to Iguanas! Henry loved this book, although he did want more illustrations.  A great funny tale including superpowers, villains and pizza, what more could you want! Good fun but definitely towards the older age range.

I liked this book because it is funny and Dylan's (the main character) superpower is very surprising.  Dylan is very helpful and clever unlike his older brother, Arctic Thunder, who is very proud.  There are some comic illustrations.  It made me feel happy and I wanted my brother to read it.

My 9 year old read this book and first of all thought the title was hilarious! He loved the illustrations and the general silliness in the book. My 5 year old also thought it was funny and it was a good one for his older brother to read to him

Started to read this to my six year old, but he couldn't get into it. Written in a conversational style, this book is more suited to older children. My son's reading comprehension age is nine, so we will try again when he is a little older.

Overall it looks good, the book is definitely aimed at around nine years old and is written in an unconventional style with some cartoons and illustrations to break up the text. If your child is into superheroes and silliness, then this is the ideal book for them.

About James Bishop

James was born in Oxfordshire - he is proud that after 32 years, he has moved one town over from where he was raised (although he does still feel homesick).

Previous work includes writing credits on Diddy TV and Gigglebiz, as well as "successfully" convincing 90's pop act Hanson to play at his wedding. Well, they didn't actually play, but they sent him on...
