Jump inside the imagination of one unforgettable "Mummy" whose charge - William - needs lots of care and attention. "Mummy" is in fact William's little girl, and William is the real parent. Children will adore following along as she turns the tables on William, but always sees his potential. When he grows up he could be an astronaut or a lion tamer or a famous chocolate maker, but his most important job is being her Dad. (And possibly being an astronaut, if she can come too.).

This is a beautiful story with a very clever twist. The 'little boy' in the story (called William) is in fact the dad and our narrator is the daughter. She has decided that her job is to look after William and take care of him. There are short sentences on each page of the book and these work well with the heavily detailed illustrations. They cover some very familiar scenarios for parents from playing dress up with your child to tripping over their ever present toys. We often joke that keeping mum and dad busy is a full time job for children and this story is a very sweet and very wonderful take on just that. We really enjoyed the book and would definitely recommend it.

A beautiful and original story where the young daughter is the ‘mummy’ to her father William. Each page is filled with humourous ways in which she has to look after him and how much work it is!
My 2 year old loved this story, finding the role reversal particularly hilarious! A brilliant book to read again and again!

This will make a lovely father's Day present. You automatically think by the title looking after William, is looking after the child. Actually this is the little girl looking after daddy, it's heartwarming and funny and Sophie loves it.

What a great quality, nice book. You automatically think it's the daddy looking after the child. But it's actually the other way around. It's a really nice story, that my little boy loved. We spend all our time together and this was the perfect book for us.

We were delighted to find this in the library. A book I had seen previously but hadn’t got round to sharing with my girlies. A simple story sweetly written with a sprinkle of humour too and those illustrations are an absolute delight.
The little girl is pretending to be mummy, keeping her pretend son (William, dad) very busy and rather complimentary of him too. A dad book doesn’t just have to be for Father’s Day. This would make a lovely gift.

A charming delightful book about a little girl looking after her daddy.  Perfect for fathers day and a twist from the norm as you would expect the father to be looking after the child. Pleasant and great for bedtime reading.

This is a fantastic book that my daughter has decided she wants read "every night forever." The narrator is a young girl, talking about being a mummy to William. She shares what he is like and that he could be anything when he grows up. She reveals that he only wants one job, which is being her dad. This is an engaging book, with simple text that suits what a child would say. The illustrations draw you into the imaginative world of William and his daughter playing. My daughter most liked when he was a nurse for children who ate too much chocolate and has even decided that will be tomorrow's topic of play. This book is perfect for fathers to share with their children.

This is a sweet book about a little girl looking after her daddy. It's a fairly short story with just one simple sentence on most pages so good for early readers. The illustrations have a hint of wistfullness about them which is rather endearing. The little girl finds lots of things to do to help her daddy. My three-year-old daughter liked that it was the child looking after the adult but I think this is one of those books which is for the adults too. Lovely to read together.

At first we got a little confused with the story until we realised that William is actually the dad and the little girl was looking after him. A great story with short sentences and beautiful illustrations.

I like the storyline of this book and t does have a humourous twist to it but it was quite simplistic for my 4 year old. I think it would be better for 2-3 year olds. my 4 year old had it read to her once and hasn't gone back to it again which is quite unusual with a new book.

About Eve Coy

Eve Coy always loved to draw. She studied animation at Edinburgh University and became an artist working for Aardman Animation. When they lived in Bristol she would take her first daughter to the library which had a fabulous children's section, placed on shelves inside a boat. She and her daughter were frequent passengers on that boat, and as they worked the...
