From Julia Donaldson, the bestselling author of The Gruffalo, comes Princess Mirror-Belle and Snow White. Full of black-and-white illustrations by Lydia Monks, Princess Mirror-Belle and Snow White is perfect for fans of this bestselling picture-book team who are beginning to read on their own.

Ellen gets a big shock when her double appears out of the bathroom mirror. But Mirror-Belle is a double with a difference! She is a princess, and a very mischievous one at that. In this story Mirror-Belle comes popping out of Ellen's mirror to help out with the local pantomime, taking the story off script in a hilarious way.

Princess Mirror-Belle and Snow White is an engaging short story by Julia Donaldson and is illustrated by Lydia Monks. It is part of a handful of selected short reads specially produced for World Book Day.

I read this story to my 5 year old daughter. She has read previous princess mirror belle stories and loves them and this was no different.
Princess mirror belle comes out of the Magic mirror and causes mayhem at Ellen's brother Lukes, play of Snow White.
While exploring the theatre Ellen accidentally lets princess mirror belle out of the mirror and during the performance she becomes the 8th dwarf in snow white.
My daughter found the story engaging and a funny twist on the traditional Snow White story.
The comic caper of a panto was brought to life during the story too.
Julia Donaldson at her best.

I would definitely recommend this book because I liked all the characters and the storyline. I found the book funny with the mischievous antics of naughty mirror-belle!

The story was short and easy to follow and read, it had great illustrations throughout the story.

I haven't read a mirror-belle book before but I will certainly look out fir more in my library in future!

We really enjoyed reading this book together.  I had a mirror friend when I was a little girl, but she always stayed safely in the mirror!

Rosie (9) says: this is the first book of the series which I have read.  My favourite part of the book was the bit when the play is in the news because Ellen gets embarrassed.  My favourite character was Luke because he was so grumpy. I loved the book because it gave me a good idea of how bad a play can get. Mirror Belle made me a bit worried that she would spoil the show.

Katie (6) says: My favourite part of the book was the bit when Mirror Belle comes on to the stage and causes disaster.

I read this to my daughters aged 6-8.  They enjoyed the story on one level because they knew the story of Snow White and thought it was funny when the play in the book was different. However, they also wanted to know who Mirror-Belle was and where she came from.  It wasn't really explained in this book, so unless you had read previous stories with Mirror-Belle in, it may be a little baffling.  It was easy to read and they enjoyed talking about it afterwards.
