Life was very ordinary for ten-year-old Robyn Silver. The often-ignored
middle child in a big family, the most excitement she had
was the dash to the dinner table to reach the last slice of pizza.

Until. she begins to see creepy creatures around her town - creatures
that are invisible to everyone else. And when her school is
forced to decamp to mysterious Grimdean House and she meets its equally
mysterious owner, Mr Cryptorum, Robyn finds herself catapulted
headfirst into an extraordinary adventure - with more excitement
than she could possibly have imagined.

Be careful what you wish for.

I found this book a bit slow to start but once I got going with it I really enjoyed it. I liked the monsters and the plot which was exciting. Would recommend it to people who like monsters but not those who are a bit sensitive as its scarey in places

I really enjoyed the book. Robyn was my favourite character. As I read at night the story can be a little scary with the monsters in it.
I also meet the author Paula at a book festival and got my book signed :)

I liked that the book was not over filled with illustrations, just one picture per chapter, so not to distract from the flow of the story itself. The illustrations were very relevant to each particular chapter though, which I really liked about this book. The book had really good plot tension in parts. There were a good range of characters, and I liked how the book applied meaning to life throughout the story, such as the power and importance of family.
I did find that at times the story left me somewhat confused, as there was just too much to take in, such as an overwhelming amount of different monsters and leaping from place to another all at once. Overall, I enjoyed the book as it is slightly different from the normal genre I choose to read.

Toppsta prize for my 9 year old Ellie she started to read it by herself and " its way to scary mummy" we passed it on to my 12 year old daughter who said it was a good book but not her normal cup of tea, she could see why Ellie was scared as it plays on your imagination.
