Dhekelia, a British military base in Cyprus; when Jack Blake meets Frank Delaney it's just two army officers getting to know each other over a cold beer on a hot afternoon and becoming close friends. But even from that inauspicious first encounter they are already on a divergent path. For Jack Blake life is easy; the army, a job, find a wife, have kids, what is there to complain about? But for Frank Delaney things happen that take him well away from that simple path. With all the advantages - excellent public school, good looks and a sharp mind - Frank should have things easier than Jack. But Frank meets people - that's part of his charm...and his downfall, because not everyone means well and before he can step back he has already stepped over a threshold that will make it impossible to return.
