Exquisite new hardback editions of the classic Noggin the Nog books about a friendly Viking, based on the beloved BBC series created by Oliver Postgate and BAFTA-award winning Peter Firmin, creators of The Clangers, Bagpuss and Ivor the Engine.

Noggin's son, Little Knut, wants to go on a dragon hunt with his friends. So Noggin sends them off with brave Thor Nogson as an escort. But what happens when Thor Nogson finds a dragon? And is the dragon all that it seems?

Perfect for fans of Cressida Cowell's How to be a Viking, Noggin the Nog pairs Peter Firmin's charming and colourful illustrations with Oliver Postgate's inimitable storytelling to create the ideal books for newly independent readers.

Peter Firmin partnered with Oliver Postgate to found Smallfilms in 1959 and together they went on to produce some of the BBC's best-loved television shows for children including Ivor the Engine, Noggin the Nog, Bagpuss and The Clangers - which recently returned to screens in the US and UK, narrated by William Shatner and Michael Palin.

This is a lovely book with great illustrations. It has a retro feel with the original Noggin the Nog style drawings and names and could be a lovely nostalgic read for fans of the original stories. I read this with my 6 year old and he really liked it. He thought it was especially funny when Thor Nogson ran away from the dragon. The short pages would be great for early readers and having the pictures in one colour on each page really makes them stand out more. A great short story for bedtime.

My son adores the Noggin the Nog' books, and this one is no exception. Noggin the Nogs son wants to go an adventure to find a dragon, and so Noggin sends his son off into Dragon Valley with Thor Nogson, a brave soldier.

The retro stories and illustrations are quite charming and delightful, and my son loves hearing stories from this series at any time of day. In this particular book, one of our favourite bits was the picture of birds sleeping  inside large flowers.

We have both enjoyed Noggin the Nog books. They are great for early readers and to share, especially at bedtime for their calming effect. This particular one has the same charm and delightful illustrations as the others that we have read (Noggin and the Whale/ Noggin the King). My six year old said he liked it and his favourite moment was 'when Thor Nogson was running away from the dragon. He was silly.'

My son (5.5 years old) is learning to read so was excited to give this one a go. It was well written for early readers and he could confidently read quite a lot of it. His only complaint was that it was too long! He prefers the satisfaction of finishing a book in one sitting, so it will be better when he is a bit older. We thought the story was fun and liked the child-friendly details like the sweets they take with them on their journey. Loved the illustrations and the facial expressions! I would definitely try other titles in the series.

Me and my 5year old read this book together, reading a page each. It was a fab little story of which my son enjoyed thoroughly. He said he would like to read more like this.
It is great for those just starting to read fluently. Having a good length to it and the words not being too complicated, I think it was just the names my son struggled with.
I would recommend this book to others.

I have to say I didn't like this book much, I felt it was a bit old fashioned. The book was little so good for bed time and the boys didn't seem to mind it. My next door neighbour said Noggin was around when she was younger. I think personally its a bit outdated and there are better books ro read on the market. I wouldn't by any of the series.
