This pupil's book is part of the "Hodder Science" series, which is designed to support the National Curriculum guidelines for Key Stage 3 science. The series offers a context-based approach to the subject, and aims to stimulate and motivate pupils by relating the science to real life. Each concept is studied and then briefly revisited and consolidated within a different context later in the course. Used together, the three pupil's books in this scheme of work provide a progressive year-on-year course to take pupils through to their National tests. This pupils book has been written to cover National Curriculum levels 4-6. Each chapter is divided into colourful, double-page spreads. A number of features within the book help to consolidate pupil's previous knowledge and help them progress successfully through their Key Stage 3 course. A starter exercise at the beginning of each chapter allows teachers to assess pupil's level of understanding of the topic before progressing and stop-and-think boxes integrated within the text encourage pupils to monitor how well they have grasped the concepts covered.
There are also end-of-chapter remember boxes to summarize the scientific concepts covered and questions and a list of relevant web sites.
