I read it myself aged 9 aged 9

The main reason why I loved this book was because of the baking element. Even though the start was quite sad, it made me want to read more, to see if that would be cured later on. I loved the way the author showed that however miserable your life can seem, there is always a light shining in the darkness, and that your worst enemy's can become your best friends.
It was a great book, I loved it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I really liked this book once I got into it but it was a bit miserable to begin with.
I liked it when they started cooking the best and the ending was glorious.

In this book we meet Scarlett, living with her little sister Kelsie and her embarrassing blogger mum who thinks it's ok to share all the details about her eldest daughter online even though she can't see how it's ruining her daughter's life as she ditches her friends and clubs after school to be more plain and less blogable.

So when she stumbles across next doors kitchen when her neighbour goes into hospital and finds a recipe book, she can't resist trying out some baking, only for school new girl Violet to join her.

As the pair start baking together they leave samples at their school for people to trying keeping themselves anonymous and the mystery growing, only soon enough Mrs Simpson returns from hospital and has to battle with Emory, her nephew to stay in her home as he believes her incapable of being alone.

There's new friends, possible boyfriends, fires, kind neighbour's and tons of cooking and baking in this cool book, if you like Coco Simon's baking series books, you'll love this too! The girls become a group and have their fun in a productive way each finding friendship and gaining a new skill whilst enjoying it. It was a light and fun read that was addictive and can easily be devoured in one sitting!

The children within my class absolutely love all of the novels written by Laurel. She is a fantastic author who really writes with the child in mind with stories they will love. There are many children within my class who love cooking and baking and this story really appeals to their passions. The books is really one for lovers of baking and those willing to get involved with a strong plot with a strong female lead.

I won't give too much of the story away as you must read it yourselves, my class love this story and you will too.

I think this book was AMAZING!!! I loved how whenever the girl wanted to bake something everything she needed was already there. it was adventurous, but not like a hero saving the day. i absolutely loved this book and my friend really enjoyed it too. She even recommended it too the class! I thought this book was was absolutely unique in a really good way. Sometimes it got a little boring though. Some characters were mean to start with but once they shared some secrets they got to know each other. There was one sad part witch was when someone dies.
