Laurel Remington is a writer of children’s and teen fiction. Her popular books focus on fun, friendship, family, food, and fashion. Laurel's first novel, The Secret Cooking Club was inspired by her three daughters who love to cook (and eat!) anything sweet. The book was the winner of the Times/ Chicken House Children’s Fiction Competition 2015. Her second novel, Confetti & Cake follows the further adventures of The Secret Cooking Club, and her new book, The Polka Dot Shop is the story of a girl who sets out to transform her mum’s down-at-heel vintage shop into something fabulous.
Laurel was born in California, and now lives near Guildford in Surrey. She is a mum to three girls, and also works as a lawyer for a renewable energy company that builds wind farms. She enjoys fashion (though she is not very fashionable) and baking with her girls (though she is a self-confessed terrible cook). When she’s busy writing or editing a novel, her family eats a lot of pasta and beans on toast!
