Covering the 118 year period of Tudor rule, from 1485 until 1603, this book explores the origins of the Tudor dynasty through to its eventual demise after Elizabeth I's death. Discover how the Tudors changed the foundation of modern Britain - and how this impacted the whole world. Battlegrounds and beheadings distinguish this intriguing period in British history which included two of the strongest monarchs ever to sit on the English throne: Henry VIII and his daughter Elizabeth I. From the War of the Roses and the Princes in the Towers to Reformation and the Spanish Armada, this was a tumultuous bloody era but also one of great expansion, increased scientific knowledge, adventurous explorers and political change.

I was studding English history so I was very excited about getting this book. I had the feeling it will be a great introduction for my daughter and I was right! This is such an engaging book! The fine detail of all Tudor monarchs lives is riveting. You can find lots of information on exactly what it was like to be living in Tudor times. There are a huge amount of details in this book packed with facts, illustrations, info graphics and photos! My daughter was very excited when she recognised William Shakespeare and she asked why is he in this book? It was a great question to start our adventure with Tudors history. The book is written in great way - each information is supported with photos! It was amazing to see all 6 wives of Henry VIII in one place. My daughter liked their head covers and chose the most beautiful wife (Catherine Parr), asking what was her name. I think this book is a great fun to read. The language is easy to understand for primary children and each page is very engaging. The format of book is detailed and colourful which make my child very focused and happy about reading this book.
I think this book will suit pupils at the primary (or even secondary school), but also I would use it for my personal knowledge.
I highly recommend this book - best book for kids I've ever seen about Tudors!!
ps. Our next book will be "50 Things You Should Know About First World War"!

I read this after my 6 year old boy, who had enjoyed it immensely. Like him, I am fascinated by the Tudor period and found this book to be suitable for all ages (as a history buff I even discovered some facts that were new to me). Each piece of information is presented in bite-sized chunks in chronological order, with illustrations and graphics that are engaging and simple to understand. I can see my son coming back to this again and again over years to come. Top marks!

50 Things You Should Know about The Tudors is an extremely informative book, without being boring or patronising. As a consequence of  its bite sized chunks of facts, combined with  colourful illustrations, graphics and photographs, it should appeal and be useful to a wide range of primary aged school children. My Horrible Histories obsessed six year old enjoyed leafing through it on his own and then asking me to read the 'interesting' bits to him. (He was particularly captured by the photographs of Pembroke castle and was amused by Henry VIII being nicknamed 'Old Coppernose'.)

Learning about the Tudors has been one of my favourite subjects in school this year. This book offered lots more in addition to what i had already learned. Its packed with facts, these are all broken down into small chunks which make it much easier to learn. There are great pictures too. I wish i had this book earlier in the year.

This has fantastic details about not just Henry the VIII but the other Tudors too. I thought he had always been enormous but when he was younger he was tall and slim. It's really interesting to see how historians are able to reconsider how to write about someone when we know more about their lifestyle.

My daughter was quite excited to receive this book. She is a few months short of 6 and some of the concepts and words are a little difficult for her.
However, she absolutely loved the images and graphics and was asking me to pick out interesting bits about every king and queen.
From a mum point of view, this book is great. It's well structured and bold colours and interesting pictures break it up, keeping it interesting for a child. It will become very useful when Tudors are a topic in school and is fantastic to get the kids interested in history!

This book is full of very interesting information about the Tudors. The pages are set out very well, with illustrations that capture the reader and draw them into reading. The information given in the book is split into small sections with large headings, making it easier for younger people to read and understand what is being presented. There are timelines throughout to aid understanding of the timing of major events and a very useful family tree to help readers place people accurately within the Tudor dynasty. This book is packed full of interesting information for children and is a great starting place for learning about the famous family and some of the major events that happened during their reign. Mine have already read and enjoyed it!

A history book written for any child in year 5,6,7,8+ packed full of information covering the Tudor period of 1485 till 1603. Each page is very well laid out, carefully using colour coding for each part of the Tudor dynasty.  I liked the way colour photos of Tudor castles are intermingled with stained glass pictures, artefacts and portraits. A beautiful history book that would keep historians from 9+ happy!
