A tsunami leaves a young hippo stranded and separated from his mother and the rest of the herd. He is rescued and finds himself in the company of a cranky old tortoise. Based on a true, event, the unlikely friendship between the hippo and tortoise is brought to life in Susan Spellman's excellent illustrations. Author Barbara Towle beautifully portrays the power of friendship in overcoming adversity.
