"I've lost my mum!"

Where is Monkey's mummy? It's not too much fun being lost in the jungle, and little monkey wants his mum. A kindly butterfly is keen to help, but they don't seem to be having much luck and keep finding the wrong animals! But eventually, they find . . . Dad! It's just as well that he knows exactly where mum is, and she's waiting with a well-deserved cuddle.

Monkey Puzzle is a clever, funny and charming tale from the unparalleled picture book partnership of Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler, creators of The Gruffalo .

This is pretty much my favourite book to read to my children. I love the rhyming words, and as well as being a very sweet story, it is clever too. I loved the very logical reason why the butterfly doesn't realise the monkey will look the same as his mum. The pictures are also beautifully detailed and interested for very young children to look at
I have read this to my children very many times, and we all really enjoy it - especially me!

Poor monkey lost his Mum - butterfly tries to help but makes things more complicated than they need to be!  As expected lovely rhyming text with bright, fun artwork.  As good as the rest of the Donaldson/Scheffler stories.

This is a fab book and another classic by Julia Donaldson. Fantastic illustration again too!! Winner!! It's  about a cute little monkey that's lost his Mum Andy is helped by a butterfly to try and find his Mum. It's a good story and shows children the difference and in animals by words and in pictures.... ultimately it's about a little monkeys journey until re-united with his family!! Very cute and continues to be enjoyed on and off for years now by both boys

My husband bought this book for our son when he was a newborn. We used to read it to him and as he grew he started to ask us to read it to him because he loves it so much. It's a great story, with a clever twist and the rhyme helps kids pick up the story and re tell it themselves. Big thumbs up!!

I've lost my mum  A lovely adventure of one little monkey trying to find his mummy. With the help of the friendly butterfly he finally finds her but they have some searching to do on the way. A nice little twist too. Showing that not everyone looks like their parents to start with.

Have read this lovely book to all 3 of my children over the years, and the youngest two still often pick it as one of their bedtime books. We love the rhyming text, they enjoy joining in now they’ve memorised the story. Lovely illustrations that make for a little discussion before we turn the pages!

We only bought this book as it seems to be one of a couple we have missing from the Julia Donaldson collection and it doesn't disappoint, a clever little story about a monkey who has lost his mum and a butterfly who really is trying to help but keeps getting a bit confused, great story, fabulous illustrations, highly recommended.

This has to be one of my all time favourite JD books to read to my children. They and I become completely absorbed in the characters and humour of the story. You can guarantee without fail, my eldest will be giggling away, despite reading it umpteen times! In true JD rhyming style, this book has a wonderful flow and loveable characters, superbly depicted my the talented Axel Scheffler.
The story is that of a little monkey who has lost his Mum. Befriended by a kindly butterfly, Monkey describes his Mum and Butterfly tries to help find her - with amusing results! My son absolutely loves the mounting frustration and exasperation of the Monkey each time Butterfly gets it wrong and shares his joy when Monkey and Mum are reunited.
I cannot rate or recommend this book highly enough. Just perfect!

Another JD/AS classic. Little monkey is lost and trying to find his way home to his mum.... butterfly listens to his descriptions of her... but keeps on getting it wrong ..... because the butterfly assumes that as her young caterpillars look nothing like her, the same must be true of monkey's parents. It's a great twist on the "caterpillar to butterfly" process.... and a good example of how not panicking and keeping a cool head when your lost, gets you back to where you need to be. Should be on every preschooler's bookshelf.

This is a really lovely and enjoyable story. It's quite a simple story with monkey looking for his mum but it's one that I enjoy with my son. The story isn't too long so I found it perfect for my 2 year old.

A monkey loses her mother and is left alone in the jungle. A kind butterfly decides to help the monkey find her mother, and asks lots of questions as she tries to figure out where the monkey's mother is.  As ever, Julia Donaldson delivers a pacy story which is entertaining and informative with a great twist at the end.  My son loves the rhymes and the bright pictures.
