This is a beautiful introduction to numbers 1 - 5 using characters from The Gruffalo.

The small board book is durable but equally small enough for little hands to handle easily. It's size makes it ideal for them to hold and look through themselves.

There are pictures on the left-hand page with accompanying text e.g. an illustration of the Gruffalo with "one Gruffalo" with a large number on the page opposite to accompany "1". My toddler "reads" the book to himself and traces each number with his finger.

The fact the book only runs from 1 - 5 is great for keeping them engaged. They can look at the book a few times without their attention wandering.

The illustrations are bright and cheerful; they caught my children's eyes immediately. They particularly enjoyed seeing familiar characters.

All in all, it's a highly recommend first numbers book; especially for Gruffalo fans.

Read this to my Daughter when she was 3 and she loved interacting and counting with me. A great book to get children involved and to practise their counting in a fun way.

Using the much-loved characters from the Gruffalo stories this book introduces the numbers 1-5 to small children. Lovely sturdy books which are easy for little hands to hold by themselves. My little girl likes that it only goes to five so it's easy to concentrate on - some of her other number books go higher and she can't stay interested at this stage. Very lovely learning books.

Simple book with bright pictures and a sturdy design. S absolutely loves this and it is a great way to introduce them to the Gruffalo for when they are a little bigger. Would really recommend this as a fun story for before/after meals or when your little one is a little wild and needs a minute to calm down!

This is great to teach youngsters about numbers. Also if they love The Gruffalo, then this will be a winner. My son has enjoyed this book.

Familiar characters from the Gruffalo used to illustrate numbers 1 through 5. It's a very simple book, with no additional story. My daughter liked it when she was a lot younger.... and has got it out again so that she can "read it" to her baby (dolly). Our daughter was mad on the gruffalo so we bought anything that was linked to it... but with hindsight, there are better books with greater longevity... in terms of teaching numbers.
