Georgie found this small board book at bedtime tonight and, while it didn't take much time to read,  there was so much language to get from it.
She enjoyed recognising the characters from The Gruffalo book.

This is a lovely bright, board book that can introduce your child to the concept of opposites (not to mention a great deal of other vocabulary).

Opposite pairs include happy/ sad; long/short and big/ small - to name but a few. Both of my toddlers enjoyed seeing the familiar Gruffalo characters in a new way. My daughter in particular squealed when she saw them!

It's not very long so won't take ages to read if you're just having a run through it. It's an ideal book to slip in amongst other activities or an addition to other books at story time. There is a lot of language to be gleaned from this - even just from talking about the pictures and actions together. We use it as a starting to point to find other objects that are big/small and so on.

A lovely addition to any bookcase - especially for those little ones who enjoy The Gruffalo.

Using the much-loved characters from the Gruffalo stories this book introduces very simple concepts of opposites to small children e.g. big/small, happy/sad. Lovely sturdy books which are easy for little hands to hold by themselves. My little girl not only likes to say the opposites she also likes to name the animals on each page. Very lovely learning books.

Familiar characters from the Gruffalo used to illustrate some basic "opposite" concepts - happy/ sad; long/short and big/ small etc.. It's a very simple book (with no actual story) but its one of the few books for the age group that tackles "opposites" so I thought it was useful from both a "concept" of opposite perspective as well as vocab. Our daughter has not looked at it for a while but has taken to "reading it" to her dolly... its nice to see her find an accessible book and pretend-play something that we do together and enjoy.

This is a good book showing various opposites using the Gruffalo stories characters and illustrations. My toddler enjoys reading this bright, bold book to her little sister. It's a great book encouraging positive language development and extending vocabulary. We received this book as a gift, in the larger format and it has proved popular. We've also had it with us on road trips which has promoted more discussions about what my toddler can see around her through the car window.
