Variety books provide a support and an extension of reading skills acquired from reading Duck Green School Stories. They are divided into consolidation stories and extension stories. They cover a wide range of genres, authors and writing styles. Starter Stage Pack A is a pack of wordless stories for beginning readers to develop book knowledge and practise language skills. The "Stories We Know" cluster consists of 3 amusing retellings of traditional stories and rhymes by Keith Gaines, while the "Teddy and Me" books are original stories by Maire Buonocore about a young girl and her toys. The books are available in both standard and 'big book' format.
