Read to a child aged 2

My 2 year old and 5 year old really enjoyed sharing this book. As with most of the Elmer books, the text was a little too lengthy to hold my two-year-old's attention, but the bright, fun detail of the illustrations make up for that. And this particular Elmer book has fun questions for the reader on each page, which make it delightfully interactive.

I loved the story because I love elephants like my brother. Elmer is a very funny elephant who makes me laugh. Other children and their mummies and daddies will like this book.

I liked the colours, and counting the animals / butterflies especially. I loved the page when all the animals had adopted beautiful colours, and Elmer was gray.

In the original Elmer story we heard about how it the annual parade came about and in this one we get to see it for ourselves. In addition to a fantastic story and colourful picture, each page has a question at the bottom to help engage the child in the story. The questions definitely add to the enjoyment Such a fun, colourful book and fun to read to the kids.  Paige says "I liked it when we tried to make someone jump by shouting BOO!"  Robert loved acting out the answers to some of the qustions - How would you make Lion laugh?

We love Elmer so had no trouble picking up this book. Every year the animals have a colourful parade. Elmer is getting ready but can only find the grey elephants. Where could all the other animals be? Elmer sets off to find them and on the way the reader gets to answer questions and help Elmer in his search. You meet Elmer's cousin Wilbur and a whole host of other animals in this fantastically colourful book. This story is short and lots of fun. I used to read Elmer stories when I was little and love sharing them with my children now.

I liked the bright colours. The questions for kids on each page was enjoyable for my son to do. Appropriate age as he could understand all of the questions.
