With sturdy flaps on every spread and rhyming stories that are a joy to read aloud, the Tales From Acorn Wood books have been delighting both parents and toddlers for fifteen years. In Tales From Acorn Wood: Hide-and-Seek Pig and Postman Bear, two of the popular lift-the-flap stories from the creators of The Gruffalo, Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler, are together in paperback, with a beautiful foiled cover look. Pig and Hen are playing hide-and-seek. But where on earth could Hen be? Lift the flaps and help Pig find out where she is hiding. Then join Bear as he delivers letters to his friends Frog, Squirrel and Mole - and lift the flaps to see Bear's special birthday surprise! Look out for Tales From Acorn Wood: Fox's Socks and Rabbit's Nap also available as a two-books-in-one paperback.

We already had enjoyed rabbits nap so my daughter chose this book in the book shop and asked for it. She like the characters as well as the stories. Great idea and price to include two stories in one book and lovely story around the party. Great interactive book where my daughter can enjoy the book alone and lift the flaps or enjoy a story before bed.

Lovely short stories that my nearly two year loved. There are flaps to lift up on every page and the illustrations are brilliant

We already owned the board-book version of Hide and Seek Pig; my daughter received this 2-in-1 paper book version as a gift.

Hide and Seek Pig tells the story of Hen and Pig who decide to play hide and seek. Every other page  there is a flap to reveal an animal as Pig searches to find where Hen is hiding.

Postman Bear follows Bear delivering three letters, which turns out to be party invites. We then join him as prepares for his his birthday party and open the door to reveal that his friends have arrived.

Considering it's a paperback, I'm impressed with how sturdy it is! The cover is a decent quality cardboard and the pages themselves are thick and heavy. The flaps are a little flimsy though; I'm not certain how long they'll withstand two heavy-handed toddlers!

The downside to this edition compared to the board books is it's size makes it a lot harder for small hands to hold. It needs to be read on a surface or with an adult holding for very little ones as they'll struggle to wield it.

The Tales from Acorn Wood series is great and never disappoints. The rhyming prose is a joy to read aloud; the illustrations complement the text perfectly and are offer a lot of detail for talking about them with your child outside of the story.

The lift-the-flap format is great for keeping toddlers engaged with the book; they thoroughly enjoy interacting with the story and revealing what happens next.

Personally, I would rather have the four stories as all board books as my children find them easier to handle independently. That said, this version is very good quality for a paperback book and it would be cheaper to get this and the other 2-in-1 book if you wanted the full lot and don't yet have any.
