The Lollies were created especially to celebrate the funniest and most engaging books in children’s fiction. Funny books can really encourage children to learn to love reading – and of course they can be great fun for adults to read aloud too!
Whether you just want to dip into the Lollies shortlist, or read the whole thing, Scholastic have a whole host of resources to help and all of the Lollies books are available on the Scholastic shop.
For teachers who want to use the Lollies in class there are some brilliant teaching resources written by Scholastic’s educational experts which will help bring the shortlist alive and engage pupils on a deeper level with the books. Every book on the shortlist comes with at least two different lesson plans and many resource sheets. There are plenty of helpful resources to use in English lessons, but each book also contains many curriculum links to other subjects, from computing and maths to geography and PSHE. Plus, for a Friday afternoon treat, break out the colouring pencils and fill in our Lollies activity sheets!
